Greetings from Germany ..today 36 Degrees hot  puuhhh

There is no tutorial to adjust Gottlieb/Premier tables since the volume control was not done through the rom.  Rather, there were analog controls to adjust the volume that were located either inside the bottom of the cabinet or inside the back box of the real tables.

There are two ways to adjust the volume of these tables:

1. Press F12 when the table is rendered.  There will be a form that will come up that will ask for a value to adjust the volume to.  Select a value between 0 and -32 (with 0 being max volume and -32 being min volume) then click OK.  Another form will pop up to verify your selection.  Click OK then press F3 to reset the table.

2.  Click on the DMD window (if the window is not visible you will have to unhide it) and then press the tilde key (~) to display a white box inside (or the key to the left of the 1 key on non-English keyboards).  When the white box appears press the up and down arrow keys until you come upon the audio channels.  For each audio channel press the left and right arrow keys to adjust the channel volume (left arrow key lowers the volume, right arrow key raises the volume).  When you are done adjusting the channels press the tilde key to close the white box and then click anywhere on the table to return focus to the table.

Thank you very much for the Infos.

Now i look into the Table but is was on 0 so i cant making louder....

That was why I gave you the second option.  As I said you may have to unhide the DMD window to use the second option.

Yes.  What you have to do is click on the pinMame DMD window (the score window) then press the key to the left of the 1 key on your keyboard (on English keyboards it would be the key with the ~ sign on it).  That will open a white box inside the DMD.  Using the up and down arrow keys scroll through the options until you come upon the audio channels (not the Volume dB that you may see when the window first opens). When you see a channel use the left and right arrow keys to adjust the volume of the channel.  When you finish with that channel use the up and down arrow keys to scroll to the next channel then repeat the procedure with the left and right arrow keys.  Once you have finished adjusting all of the channels press the key to the left of the 1 key on your keyboard to close the white box then click anywhere outside of the DMD to return focus to the table.

When I hit the tilde key, my only options are brightness and gamma.  I set the sound to zero in your other option.  Thanks.

Which table?
It could be a ROM problem, try another ROM if you find a different one.

I have the same exact issue with Stargate.  I am using stargat4.zip, which was the version in the script.  I just tried stargate.zip and stargat3.zip and they both have sound.  Make sure you use vp9.21 at a minimum.  It ran, but not well, with vp9.15.

Actually, the problem with the sound was also due to vp9.15.  With vp9.21, stargat4.zip works just fine.

For whatever it is worth I was having some issues with the voice callouts in Stargate being too soft.  I followed the instructions above and set the F12 to zero and clicked on the DMD and pressed the tilde key and upped all the voice volumes to 100.  (They were at 50%).

Great help for Stargate!!!

I don't consider myself a newbie but this was all new to me.  Thanks for the thread.

Also, if the DMD is not hidden but gets caught behind the playfield and you can't click on it: Hit the windows key and click on the Visual Pinball icon on the task bar.  You will see the DMD screen.  Click on it and it will bring DMD screen above the playfield temporarily.  Click on the DMD window and hit the tilde key to see the various volume options.  Up down arrow to select the different volume options, left right to raise or lower them.

Great stuff ta2686!!!

Hi, I just discovered the stargate table and It is wonderful. However, I am having the low volume on callouts issue. I tried to fix it but I cannot find the DMD that allows you to adjust volume with tilde key. Can do it on other tables like robocop etc but cant on here. I went to backglass settings and set dmd to be visible, no dice. Hit alt tab and looked, nothing. Any advice?

you could just test the ROM in in vpinmame setup.exe

and adjust them there

That worked, kinda. Thanks for showing me that though. It will be a big help on stubborn tables where I cant get to the dmd. Anyway, now when I try to play coins do not register and cannot start a game. Restarted the rom multiple times let it sit through self test etc. Didnt change anything but voice audio.

Well, I deleted the registry for stargate rom and the vram files. then i reinstalled the vram files that came with the game folder and tried again. It worked. I must have messed something up not realizing it. works now and the callouts are as high as they will get now. thanks. Also realized it is free to play. maybe hitting my start button/key was doing something to the rom. Who knows. Works now. Really fun game.  Thanks again, man. I'm learning a lot. Hopefully I can help others soon.

Stargate seems to have abysmally low volume to the ROM audio as compared to other ROMs

you can bump up some of the audio channels within pinMAME itself, it makes it better, but yea, it is not near as noisy as other ROMs
Best guess is that is simply how that table was.

If the table is overpowering the ROM to much, what you can do is go through the script, and where you see playsound or playsoundat or playsoundatball

where it goes on to say "sound file name"  you will see that some numbers come after, the 1st number is usually 0, it means how many times to repeat the sound, the 2nd number is volume.
You could lower the 2nd number.

Same even if you see it say playsoundat soundFX("sound name", DOFFlipper), right flipper

but on stargate, if you replace the stock script with @Thalamus's updated script from his github
be built in some global volume options for the table sounds so you can easily turn them down, he has them divided into categories also

Cool. I put that script in there to begin with. But I did not look at the options yet, thanks. Sounds perfect for me now though after going into the rom via pinmame.
