I have similar issues with custom colors as sparky earlier in this thread. I have no problems playing the DMD in the correct location through the command line and through PinballX. I simply haven't been able to figure out how to display a custom color in PinballX. I always get the default color. I'm using FutureDMD v1.8, Windows 7 x64, and PinballX 1.85.

FutureDMD is set up to start and close through PinballX. It works fine. Here's my FutureDMD.ini:

[default]
red=245
green=100
blue=50
highscore_1_1=" is #1|"
highscore_1_2=" Rules|"
highscore_1_3="HIGH SCORE|"
highscore_1_3_2=" "
highscore_1_4="Can you beat|"
highscore_1_4_2=" ?"
avg_time_1_1="Average Game Length.."
avg_time_1_2="Average|Survival Time.."
avg_time_1_3="Most Balls Drained in.."
avg_time_1_4="Can you last longer than?.."
PosScreen=2
PosX=3866
PosY=225
SizeW=768
SizeH=192
Orientation=2
Mirror=1
Shades=0000000000000000
[Family Guy  1.01 ZED]
red=255
green=255
blue=0

Yes, I know that there is an extra space in the table name. This is how it was when I downloaded the table. And that it how it is set up in the xml database. PinballX/BAM loads the table Ok.

I can get FutureDMD to pick up custom colors if I run from the command line. I start an instance of FutureDMD and go into the command line using FutureDMD_Relay to pass through the table name prior to starting FPLoader and playing the table. That works.

But I haven't been able to do the same thing in PinballX with FutureDMD always on. I have tried putting FutureDMD in the Windows Start folder and I have tried starting FutureDMD on PinballX startup. Both using FutureDMD_Relay to pass through the table name. Neither method works. I still get the default color plus the inconvenience of having the FutureDMD window overlaying the DMD videos in attract mode.

Is there something I'm not getting about setting up custom colors?

[SOLVED] - I had the files for each table stored in its own separate folder within the Future Pinball\Tables folder. PinballX was passing through the path name plus the table name within the Tables folder. FutureDMD cannot match to the game defined in the ini file under this situation. The solution is to store all fpt and associated files just under the Tables folder.

Problem here.

everything was working fine with I think futuredmd 1.7 and ledwiz.

I updated futuredmd 1.8 and overwritten the opengl32.dll and ledwiz.dll and now the ledwiz is not working anymore

I copied the dll from the ledwiz folder included in the 1.8 update.

If I copy back the opengl32.dll from ledwiz from gopinball it working again but no futuredmd

I can confirm this, the same thing happens on my system. Ledwiz doesn't work anymore and copying the dll from the ledwiz folder didn't help either. I didn't look further into the problem the last week because my service keyboard kicked it.

The DMD looks much better though :)

sorry guys, it wouldn't be an update if I didn't break Ledwiz  :)  I will hopefully have time to update it this weekend. I'm glad you like the shading.

It just needed approval. It's available now for download.

FutureDMD is great :). But guys, I'm going crazy here. I read about a zillions posts but did not find a possible answer to my problem.

Running FutureDMD 1.81 with FP/BAM (both in admin mode) on a 3 screen config. The problem I have is the DMD does not display any animations. For instance with T2 it only displays the text but no animations (like Williams logo and the insert coin animations).

I tried several things (different FutureDMD versions, SP3 compatibility, position of the DMD on screen 1, 2 or 3) but are out of ideas and options. Both the BAM exe as Future Pinball exe are named exactly the same and are running in admin mode, same as FutureDMD. What am I missing here?

Thanks for the help!

I think the Future DMD readme says something about animations having to have a certain compression setting or something ?

Thanks for the hint! I found the text in the readme:

If the table uses an imagelist for display backgrounds or effects, then these must be left uncompressed

and there needs to be less than 1200 textures in total. I’ve not found a table that exceeds this yet, but

there are sure to be some out there. In this case, the table should still run, but you will find some effects

missing from the DMD screen.

Does this mean I need to manually extract these and place them in the same table folder? I extracted the T2 DMD file that comes with the table and this generates a lot of subdirectories but the DMD still does not display them :(.

Don't know

You might have to export them , alter  them  and re-import them?

See if you can get Gauntletlover to respond somehow.

Private message him

I recently did some multiplayer tweaking on T2 table

and I don't recall issue with DMD's

it was the zed ultra with enhanced DMD edition .  Is that the one you are using?

I'll inbox you at Gopinball the T2 table I'm working on and you can try it

Thanks for your help! The T2 table you are working on is working perfectly. Issue seems to be in the compressed images somehow. I will contact Gauntletlover as suggested and hopefully can post a solution.

UPDATE: issue solved. Not explainable but after running the other table the original T2 table displaced the animations..... Weird stuff :)
