It's downloading so slowly that I doubt it will finish before I leave work to go home...

I got the Marvel Pinball Original pack. Flipper physics are pretty good. The ball has some weight, but still can be improved on. Has multiple viewing angles and more than one that shows the whole table (a refreshing change from past pinball games). Need to tweak options to where I don't see the special effects as much, although they are entertaining to watch, they can get in the way at times. Overall, I like what I got here and recommend it. Until I get the whole collection of tables I won't be able to give a total verdict. :D

Where is the "portrait" setting?

It feels like the flippers are a bit "heavy" and slow imho.
But i like the overall feeling of it, only got Marvel pack atm.

Where is the "portrait" setting?

Did anyone get it working on their pin-cab running Windows XP yet?

OK - using the video card utility (nVidia) to rotate the desktop 90 degrees makes portrait mode work BUT!!!!

UGH!! I have to have a keyboard installed to enter my steam password BUT the Nanotech DIY plunger kit is not detected by Pinball FX2 for things like flippers and plunging the ball!!!!!!!!

/facepalm

XP no, W7 yes. You have to set the screen to portrait. I didn't find anything to configure except for what is configurable in the game itself, which isn't that much. The keyboard configuration is very limited.

I didn't find anything to mess with in the registry, %appdata%, documents, or the "steamapps\common\Pinball FX2" folder.

So far I changed my flipper buttons to left and right arrow, and my magnasafe buttons to up and down arrow. These settings work ok in VP and FP and after mapping a few keys different in fplaunch.ahk they work in SlamIt Pinball, too.

With these settings I'm able to start any table in Pinball FX2, and use up nudge on the left magnasafe button.

The Change Camera View button can be set to 5.

All that's missing is the escape key. That is a job for autohotkey.

Ok, now it's time to muck around with fplaunch.

Edit: Ninja'd by Bent. Yes, the portrait mode does work and it doesn't look too bad on my cab, which is running W7. I didn't test on a XP system :)

Edit2: As posted before, starting "steamapps\common\Pinball FX2\Pinball FX2.exe" gives me an protection fault - on two systems. I tried to guess a few command line options, no luck. I'll try strings next.

It's just like under Windows 8. You will have portrait mode if your main display is rotated. If you have your main display in Landscape Widescreen then you will not have portrait mode. Looks and plays no differently than the Windows 8 app.

I'm using the IPAC for all buttons. For the Nanotech you could use something like xpadder to emulate a keyboard.

The Nanotech board IS a keyboard and shouldn't need xpadder...  Or maybe it's a "joystick"?

I thought full blown regular cab support is forthcoming? There will be no need with all this tweaking with your graphics cards. I hear stay tuned...

My keyboard is wirelessly connected to my cab full time. No biggie......... Full time Internet connection. No biggie..... I think this will work out.....

Cabinet support isn't implemented in this version. Just portrait mode.... Not the same. Stay tuned, this should get interesting.

Guys remember, the average pc gamer (probably 90+ % of us) does NOT have a cabinet setup (not arguing about them promising to have cabinet support). I am grateful enough that they ported Pinball FX over to the PC and especially to Steam to add icing to the cake. :D
