I know this sounds a bit crazy but there's a method to my madness.

In VP/FP is there a way I can have two virtual DMD's and show each one on a separate monitor? My rig supports 4 monitors, I'd liek to use #3 and #4 as DMD screens.

Probably no reason to do it. The only current PinMAME table that has two DMD displays is Gottlieb Strikes n' Spares http://ipdb.org/show...no=14921&zoom=1
And PinMAME displays both DMDs in the same window.

What you could probably do if you simply want to replicate the second dmd screen is to use dual-display or cloned display mode in windows to make displays 3&4 be mirror images of each other.
I think that's a stupid idea - waste of electricity to duplicate data like that.

My full tower case can hold 16 internal hard drives, but I don't have any need or desire or inclination to put 16 drives into it, ever.

Lol, well it depends what you're building.

I can't just mirror the monitors as they take on different functions in different modes, too much to go into detail here. Replicating the instance of the DMD window in the script should be possible, I guess I'll have to find someone with an in depth knowledge of the software.

Well, for PinMAME, you wouldn't want to do it unless you compiled two versions. That way you could run romset one with Controller.Run on display A, and a second romset with Controller2.Run on display B and use the script to interface to both object handles. Or you could run VPDisco with VPPlus, having each set to the display you need.

For Future Pinball you might get with the current plugin programmers to implement functionality to control two discrete display windows for your DMD requirements.
If Bad Boy Bill is bored with their HyperDMD program, give him your suggestion and it'll get him busy again :)

Yeah that sounds ugly on both counts for PinMAME but I'll pursue any possibilities as I know I'm asking for something very unusual, but it's going to be used in a very unusual build. Thanks for the suggestion on FP, I'll hunt around and see if anyone has any ideas for a plugin that could achieve that goal.

My build is underway at the moment, once I have something to show I'll report back here and the need for this odd request will seem a little less insane.
