Tip: If you upgrade your system to Windows 8 and have issues with VPinmame and Active X, run the VPinmame installer in

your Visual Pinball subdirectory and select Uninstall. Close the Installer. Relaunch the installer with Run as Administrator.

Select Install and fill in your options.

In general I would recommend you run each application as Admin, you can use Troubleshoot Compat to set the options as well

I chose 'Ran in previous version' > 'WinXP SP3 Mode' and 'requires additional privileges'

on each of these:

VisualPinball

UltraVPServer

VPinMame

HyperPin

Installing Win8x64 right now on a new SSD for testing in the PinCab, Thanks for the tips.  Just installed Classic Shell to get windows start menu back, phew I hated metro or whatever they call it now, wow it was difficult without it.

wow I cant believe it, VP runs quite well in Win8. Still testing, but seems fine (Still have to install LEDWiz stuff and check for stutter though)

I'm a little iffy about around the 3rd party start menus as a MS update may mess them up and I want to wait for windows 8 SP1 or windows 9/ blue to see what happens to windows then.

I like Metro actually. Just keep using it, you get used to it.

Also, I don't know what each users usage is like but I often need

the Control Panel.

Top Tip:

From Windows Explorer.

View>Options (at far right)>Change Folder and search options.

Tick box 'Show all Folders"

Now you will have an icon for control panel in your navigation panel on the leftside of Windows Explorer

for easy tweakage. Basically you can manage anything on your PC via Explorer. Right click on the Computer

Icon to get to services, properties etc and Control Panel for app tweakage.
