hi, the table looks great. i am getting an error though, see attached pic. if i rem out that section (lines 662 to 669) everything works ok including the plunger.

i must say you did a great job, the table seems to have very good physics too, i don't think i have ever enjoyed playing this pin as i do now, so sincere thanks.

On the constructive crticism front, i found the table was very choppy on my rig but turning the sides of the alpha ramps to solid helped greatly limit the stutter. For those who still have too much stutter (if its not just me!) you can also change the entire ramp that goes behind the backwall to solid and aside from the entrance it looks fine and does hurt the look too much. the table is buttery smooth after doing this.

well done,

Loaf

Table looks great but can't get it to run. Keep getting an error that DE.VBS doesn't exist. But double checked everything and all is there. Every other table works. Not sure whats going on but thought I would say something. Anyone else with this problem?

nope except to say that i usually put these script files in 3 places: hyperpin vp tables folder, vp tables folder (they are not the same for me) and the vp scripts folder.

Oldskool,

change line 658 from this:

If Plunger.MotionDevice> 0 Then
Plunger.TimerEnabled = 1

to this:

If Plunger.MotionDevice> 0 Then
Plunger.TimerEnabled = 0

I had the same problem, I put the table in the same folder as the file DE.VBS, and now it works.

The table is good.
Uncheck the "Table Render Caching" , is not compatible with the all new features.

Thanks

Max

I made a quick update for Javier of this table that improved the FPS by about 250 - 300 percent. So, those with any stutter, this update will provide much smoother game play. I also incorporated slydog43's observation about unchecking the table caching option and it definitely at least solved some random crashes for me, which unfortunately I discovered at the end of my editing - but at least I've gotten in the habit of saving frequently and good to know now what was causing this new rash of VP crashes :)

This is only an optimization update / MOD and the difference can be observed in the FPS as well as quite easily in the general game play. I did not do any tuning / editing of the BMPR, physics, or any other objects on this table and it maybe could use a little, however, it seems to have a reasonably nice feel about it as it stands even though Javier has used some very different numbers for the table physics and the routine's parameters then what I typically use. I would say that the flippers need some rejigging though and that top left ramp corner is too sharp for the ball to make it consistently around. But at least this update get's it running smooth and I simply replaced the older plunger and alpha flasher routines with the optimized / newer ones (it was using the older .widthtop / .widthbottom aspect on the flashers and plunger). Also utilized the typical savings from alphas on the sides of the ramps being converted to solid from alpha (the textures were updated too with a nice one from JPs more recent tables).

Hope this helps people enjoy it better and thanks Javier for working on this, maybe we'll talk about some other potential physics improvements down the road ;)

The apron (ApronImage) and the wall under (apron1) are the same height 85, just increase the apron Ramp of 0.1
Apron color transparency R,G,B 123,123,123, instead of 0,0,0 .

Thanks

Max

I get a bunch of errors trying to open the table. Some quick scripting observations...

Change:
sub LoadVPM(vpmver,vbsfile,vbsver)
    on error resume next
        if scriptenginemajorversion < 5 then msgbox "VB Script Engine 5.0 or higher required"
        executeglobal createobject("scripting.filesystemobject").opentextfile(vbsfile,1).readall
to
sub LoadVPM(vpmver,vbsfile,vbsver)
    on error resume next
        if scriptenginemajorversion < 5 then msgbox "VB Script Engine 5.0 or higher required"
        executeglobal gettextfile(vbsfile)

And change:
Sub TheSimpson_init()
    vpmInit me
    With Controller
        .GameName = "simp"
to
Sub TheSimpson_init()
    vpmInit me
    With Controller
        .GameName = "simp_a27"

Sounds like we need version 1.2 with all fixes mentioned. Be it would be awesome if Jimmy did more tweaks!
