I'd be willing to do any table, i really just want to learn, the scripting is most important to me, i think the actual building of the table will not be as hard as the scripting. I don't think any of the 70's tables really have ramps, so they should be pretty straight forward. I think we should pick something with a lot of high res resources. I like a lot of the 70's stern tables, and i know there are already decent versions of them, but this is really just to learn. I have accesss to good high res resources for Galaxy, Flight 2000, Meteor, Wild Fyre, and Lectronamo, we would just have to give a credit to Martin B for his redraw on the playfields.
Kinda partial to Meteor rolleyes.gif

But like i said, i'm really willing to work on anything just to learn.
Any one else have any suggestions..... I'm very eager to start this process.

Don't matter to me. I would like to see a table with a bit of everything though. Drop targets, kicker holes, multiball etc. Just so that we get exposure to it.

Taking on something where we already have all the resources may be kind of self defeating however.

Maybe we could do one that was never produced: example: http://www.ipdb.org/...ine.cgi?id=5139

the only table i have found from this era that has pretty much everything is xenon. Drop targets, kickout holes, ramps, spinners, and multiball.

Maybe be we should make a list of peoples suggestions and then vote on it?

Xenon would actually be a cool table to work on. I always wondered how they simulated see through plastic ramps.

There are not many solid state tables from the 70's. Probably my favorite from the era would be Flight 2000.

Most of the tables from the 70's wouldn't require a rom to complete. I kind of wanted to do Monday Night Football, add John Madden and Howard Cosell into the mix. It could have been funny as hell.

Flight is 1980, that was my original thought because it has multiball.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

so far it seems like we are looking at:

Voltan Escapes Cosmic Doom
Meteor
Xenon

These are the ones from the 70's that have been mentioned. (The others mentioned were 80's tables)

Anyone else want to add to the list, then we can vote on it and get this under way.

I do happen to like both Meteor and Xenon both of them happen to have multiple excellent recreations while Voltan has only one. I still play Eala's & Joe's great version from time to time, but it's showing it's age and could obviously benefit from a new build using more modern techniques. If for some reason some would like to do a different table, how about Lost World?

I'm down for doing Voltan. do you know if there are resources available. I'll start looking for some when I get home.
I'll really do any table, but since you said this one is in need of an overhaul my vote is for Voltan.
could you upload the version you have as I have never played it and don't have the table?

so that's 2 for Voltan

let's hear from the rest of the group?

Eala's version of Voltan is hosted here. I've already started collecting images for it.

can any of you guys do the spanning thing for 16:9? I figure if I'm going to build a table I want to make it in all formats, 4:3, 16:9 spanned, and 16:9 fullscreen. my problem is I can't span on either of my pcs so I can't scale the spanned tables correctly.
just curious.
I don't mean as a group we should do all formats, but for me personally, I will be working on all three at the same time.

What do you mean by span? My system should do it, what ever it is.

You guys tried this table out yet? I get NO sound from the ROM, none. I tried every trick I know. It's not the regular DMD type.

Anyone played this table yet: Spiderman and Black Cat. The author wrote his own DMD that's playable without VPmame.

http://FastFreeFileH...MBCDMD-rar.html

It's pretty cool.

What I believe what unclewilly means is if anyone has a computer set up to correctly display and play the spanned 16:9 tables hosted here. I'll just used this as an excuse to purchase 2 more Hanns*G HG281DJ 27.5" LCDs for this specific purpose! wink.gif

I've already collected about 30MB of source material!

That Spiderman and Black Cat table is a mod of Bob's original release by HighRise. The DMD uses a bunch of reel images similar to what Noah did on his own 4 Horseman table.

Val are you getting any sound from the Voltan ROM?

Be sure to click "Use Samples" in the game options when testing the ROM.

Yes, but make sure that dip switches 8 & 32 are checked by pressing "F6" to display the menu for the full sound setting. Better yet download the manual from the IPDB for a full explanation of all the dip switch settings.
