Phew... played a game of Xevious today... the very last area, Area 16 has been too difficult for me. Well now I finally made it.

After completing the Area 16 the game throws you back to Area 7. Half a million points was too close though... but then again I think I can score a million now when I have finally done it once...!!

There are many games like Xevious, but only one is the original... and best...!!

My new high score 499K.

You can watch the walkthrough here. This vid ends after completing Area 16. Not my video though but you get the picture.

Very impressive Sir.

This may sound like a noobish question, but how do you tell that you've moved on to a new Area?

There's always a forest after each area.

Want to see some freak Xevious playing? This guy went through the game without firing a shot...!!

They love Xevious in Japan. Worship.gif

Well I almost went through the 2nd loop... not quite but managed to get to the 3rd mothership again. I think 1.000.000 points is realistic after playing it a bit more... can't get enough of it still....!! biggrin.gif

This is the kind of game where I give up after 2 minutes. The sounds alone make me go crazy tongue.gif I find it already impressive that you can spend so much time on such a game, let alone reach your achievement biggrin.gif

I have also been playing a lot of Xevious lately both on PS3 and 3DS. I can only get to about area 10'ish though. Just the other day i found a Sol Citadel i never found b4, how crazy. smile.gif

There was a MINT xevious for sale here 3 weeks ago for only 250. I wish i would of picked it up.

Shmups are also my favorite games outside of pinball.

No changes. I play all games with the default dips... that's how they're intended to play.

well if you are playing with your dips like this...

ROMSet: Xevious
Service Mode: Off
Bonus Life: 20K 60K 60K
Lives: 3
Cabinet: Upright
Flags award bonus: Yes
Difficulty: 3 [Hard]
Freeze: Off

then you have a 3rd place Twin Galaxies world record for MAME. You should use wolfmame that TG provides to record your game

Really? I didn't think that my score was THAT special.

I thought there were plenty of people in Japan who have scored more than 9,999,990 points... the maximum... then the game starts giving extra ships from every shot.

I'm sure there are more people who have scored the max points on the real machine and i'm sure even in MAME but a legit registered record through TwinGalaxies would land you 3rd place on MAME.

The better question/motivator is: How far is he from the top spot? smile.gif
