There is a 'dot' in the name.
Rename your .vpt file to : KISS_JP_VP9.vpt
After that edit your .xml and give it the same name.
The description has to match the media names : KISS (Bally 1979)

That should do it.

The .xml is found in your Hyperpin/Databases/Visual Pinball folders.
Once you get to the Visual Pinball.xml file just right click on it and choose "Open With" Notepad.
Here you can edit the file to say whatever you need it to.
Here is an example of what each table file should look like. Hope this helps some.

<game name="16-9 The Shadow">
<description>The Shadow (Bally 1994)</description>
<manufacturer>Bally</manufacturer>
<year>1994</year>
<type>SS</type>
</game>

Also, these .xml files for each table can be found in the media packs section in the red stripe at the top of this page under the VisualPinball cabinet / Hyperpin files.

FYI - The 'dot' in the file name has nothing to do with it. As long as your game name matches your table filename EXACTLY then it should be fin.

<game name="yourtablename"> <---- Your table filename minus the .vpt goes between the quotes.
<description>The Shadow (Bally 1994)</description> <---- this name must match all images, wheel image, table, backglass, uvp, etc.
<manufacturer>Bally</manufacturer>
<year>1994</year>
<type>SS</type>
</game>

That looks good.
Remember that in your Hyperpin/Media/VP folders, your backglass, playfield and Wheel image must be named Attack from Mars (Bally1995)

Here is an idea.
Go into your Hyperpin folder and right click on the following three files and make sure they are set to "Run As Administrator" in the compatibility tab.
Hyperpin.exe
HGlass.exe
FPLaunch.exe

Some people also have success running in the NT4.0 (Service pack 5) mode.

I have never deleted the program, so I am not sure if you need to do anything other than just delete the entire folder.
In case this helps, here is how my .xml file looks with a couple of games. Maybe you are missing the entries at the top and bottom.

<menu>
<game name="16-9 Time Machine">
<description>Time Machine (Data East 1988)</description>
<manufacturer>Data East</manufacturer>

</game>
<game name="16-9 Spider Man">
<description>Spider Man JP</description>
<manufacturer>Stern</manufacturer>
<year>2007</year>

</game>
<game name="16-9 Cactus Canyon">

example

rename everything table, uvp, wheel etc to: Attack from Mars

download HyperPin XML Editor

for game name type: Attack from Mars
for description type: Attack from Mars

leave the rest you dont need it.

click add table, rinse and repeat for more tables. save as visual pinball.xml and replace the file in hyperpin/databases/visual pinball.

thats how i have everything set up on my cab and everything works.
