Hi there, needing help with getting this table to run...
I keep getting the error:
Line 454: variable is undefined : 'vpmShowDips'
Line 454 shows this: Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("editDips")
So what's wrong?? I just downloaded the table & I have everything in place(only table I'm having problems with right-now).
Also,I'm running VP8 & have ALL the ROM sets listed here(except Taito's,but this is a Stern table). And I also have the stern.vbs that is required according to the script(the stern.vbs is even 2.0,rather than only 1.2 needed by the script)...
I'm confused,please help!
Thanks in advance

What you may have to do is download the dip switch script files, find the Meteor dip switch script and paste the text of that script into the table script. You can download the script file pack from this link:

Hope this helps.
BTW...welcome to the forums!!!

Hi there & Thanks!
I'm glad you responded, hopefully I can ask for your help just a little bit longer on this tho...
That is,I tried what you suggested(Downloaded the Script Pack by Inkochnito)& it turns out it was already done in the script...
I downloaded this from /here/ & have tried to run it directly "out-of-the-box",so I'm wondering why no one else has had this problem???
As I said, everything is as required & I even downloaded the Taito ROM set before re-trying(just in case, since I was out of options & all). But still, the same error as before...
Any other ideas?? Or is it possible to reach the authors to ask them why it would be doing this straight-off(I swear,no modifications were made to ANYTHING)? It seems like this isn't going to be easily-solved...
BTW-I /really/ appreciate the reply, honest.I'm especially glad you suggested that Script Pack,as I'm sure it will come in handy for when a table author/modder leaves the script improperly-finished!
If it's not too much trouble, maybe you or someone you know could download the file & see what you think??
I mean,if you could check it 1st hand you would be able to see exactly what I see(providing you're using VP8,of course). Also, don't think it rude of me to suggest all of this,I totally understand if your downloads are limited & it would be a waste of your daily alottment. But if you would be willing to for my sake,I would compensate you in return(PM or email me if so)...
OK,I might be moving too fast on this, but I want this resolved /literally/ ASAP.Contact me in anyway you desire, doesn't matter to me.Just let me know your thoughts about all this...
-Peace!

I'm not sure of whether or not DesAngel or Plumb are currently on this forum, but I do know that Eala Dubh Sidhe is an active member here, maybe you could reach out to him for assistance.
I do have this table on my other system and I do know it works with VP8. Then again, I am using XP on that system.
Let me ask you a couple of questions (yes they may be stupid, obvious questions but sometimes these need to be asked):
1. Do you have the stern.vbs file in the same directory as the table (that is do you have that script in the tables directory)?
2. Which Operating system are you using? (XP, Vista, Win 7)
3. Did you follow the Installation Guide when you installed VP/VPM?
It could be something simple that was overlooked, that is why I am asking these questions.

I have this table and just played it and it works perfectly in every respect, so it must be something on your end. Is the the only table you are having trouble with?
BTW if you become a supporter, you are not limited in downloads at all.

I remember problems with this one too when I started, but, I wasn't even computer literate when I started either. If you're running windows 7 right click the file and "run as administrator". If not I can see if I have the files and pm them to you. (not my game, but one of my favorites).

WOW!
Thanks for so many responses!
I didn't expect so many ppl to respond, especially with such speed. This really proves there's a strong level of support here.
Actually,I managed to find what was wrong finally...
It turns out the line:
Set vpmShowDips = GetRef("editDips")
Needed to be erased in every case in which the scripts had been copied from Inkochnito's Master Scripts file(which,I've seen used in at least several other pins,so far since this 1).Apparently,when it was copied,it was done /exactly/ as had been listed in the note.
That is,when I checked this in the few I had this prob. with,it had that line left in the table script...
It must've caused the crash because the tables like that work now.
However, the sound isn't very good on Meteor Ver. 1.10 now & I noticed this is a prob. with another I corrected in this way(flight2000 from Germax's site,as well)...
It isn't a Game-ender for me,but still I wonder if there's a fix for this that you guys know of(since you're here & all
)??
Again,Many thanks for the suggestions!
----------------------------------------------
And,since you asked:I run on WinXPservicepack2 & installed VP with Phoenixxx's guide from the main page of PinballNirvana(I found that site before this 1).
Tho,that was to update everything I had gotten from another source years ago & it was all in dis-array with each Table arranged in it's /own/ folder with scripts/fonts copied into each Table's folder(under a master "Tables" folder).
Since it was horribly out-of-date I found out(after checking out the new tables at PN),I decided to upgrade. But since everything was arranged in the way it was,I basically saved everything I had originally & inserted what was missing from the VP8 download(Tables mostly some images/flyers/rules that sorta thing).
BUT,I made sure not to over-write anything as per the incl. read-me's unless what I had was better/more recent(which nearly never was the case). It took me 2-3 days, but I knew it had to be done if I was ever going to run the new ver. properly...
Anyways, sorry if the history is too much, better to explain it all now tho since it's fully in my thoughts & /sorta/ relates(I think?)...
Thanks again for the ideas & much appreciation if someone can tell me how to resolve the sound issue!
