I guess you just need to turn on the ROM volume. To do that just press the "END" key, then press the "9" key until the volumen in the vpinmame window is at 27. Hit "END" again and play, and I guess you'll hear the music again.

What you will need to do is go into the ROM adjustments and raise the volume that way. Go to this thread and click on the link for Bally/Midway/Williams WPC tables to bring up the procedure to adjust the volume via the ROM for this table: Guide to adjust volume on DMD tables

Thanks very much that did it. May I ask one other question please? When I run pinmame32 and try to run a table all I get is the display grid - you know with the score. So I have to run the visual pinball exe to get the table to work. What am I doing wrong? thanks.

When you installed Visual Pinball did you also install Visual PinMAME? If you used the VP Installer from this site or the Visual Install Pack from Pinball Nirvana, both of these will be installed for you. All you would need to do after that is upgrade Visual PinMAME to version 2.3 and add Visual Pinball 9.12 to your installation. You can find the instructions in the Installation Guide. After that, download the zipped ROMs and place them in the roms directory STILL ZIPPED. Unzip the tables to your tables directory and then you should be able to play the table using the roms.
One thing I should have mentioned: When you run the setup program for Visual PinMAME make sure you uncheck the "Always run full screen on this display" checkbox, otherwise the scoreboard will cover the table.

Place the rom in the roms folder of your pinball installation, not the pinmame32 installation. Look at this screenshot of my pinball installation. You should see the directory structure and where you should place the roms (highlighted in red)

No! No! No! Not the pinmame32 installation, but where you installed Visual Pinball. If you used one of the installers I mentioned earlier there should be a roms directory created there. Then when you launch Visual Pinball, the table script will call for the rom image from that directory. Place the zipped rom in that roms directory, not the roms directory of pinmame32.
If you are unsure what I am talking about, read the Installation Guide which will explain it for you in detail.

(a little more explanation of what ta2686 is saying)
Pinmame32 is a standalone program which only emulates the ROM. It is not used to run VP tables.
VP uses vpinmame which is a special build av pinmame.
To run a table with its rom you need to run VP, and VP will start vpinmame by itself. So you are not doing anything wrong.
To run a table you start VP, load a table and run it. If the table uses a rom then it will load vpinmame automatically.
Pinmame32 is only used to test a rom, listen to sounds, nothing more. I actually only have used pinmame32 when I wanted to extract some sounds from a rom.

Thanks for the assist here JP! That is my problem lately.....I have been dealing with too many tech-heads and sometimes when I answer here after dealing with them I am forgetting I"m dealing with a noob and get too technical with my responses.
@antaresuk: Hopefully I didn't totally confuse you with my responses to you inquiries. As long as you are now able to play the tables after all this, I'm glad.
