File Name: MarsAttacksWS2013.2.8
File Submitter: Bob5453
File Submitted: 03 Mar 2009
File Category: VP 9.x Originals
Author(s): Bob5453
Permission to MOD?: No

2013 Update

Added animated fire!
added multiball - A ball is launched on every 10th Martian you kill.
added new plunger
changed flippers
etc.

The fire looks awesome in action, I used Steve Paradis' FP images with permission and thanks to Rascal for optimizing my fire code.

2011
New image lights, new plastic edges, new posts, new flippers, new rollovers, new outlook on life. Ack! Ack!

You can change this table to 4x3 by changing the xScale to "2" on the backdrop.

This version is strictly for VP9.1.X

Thanks to many people and they are listed in the script. Special Thanks to Eala for letting me use his Asteroid Annie table as an engine for this table.

The targets go down when hit and all lights work and everything else works great on VP9.

What table are you trying to play and what version of VP are you using?

I don't know what the hell you are talking about. Are you playing Mars Attacks or are you trying to play someone's version of Attack From Mars? Are you using a Pinball Wizard controller?

I have one graphic problem, the two main bumpers. think.gif

EDIT:Problem solved.
I am using VPMan with VP8 & VP9 installed. I need to set the launching options for each table. The table was opening with VP8.. fool.gif
Well,....still learning.
Playing great, better than the VP8 version imho. otvclap.gif

Since I don't want to use VP9 (I had only problems with it), I'm using VP8... and I don't want to go elsewhere than here... clnglasses.gif

This is the first VP9 table I've had problems with. To get the other ones to work I use vpman and disable direct draw, but when I disable dd on this one I get "can not create back buffer". With dd on, it doesn't show flippers. When I turn off hardware rendering with dd off, no errors, but the main playfield image and backdrop don't show up.

I've had fun with bob's tables and the vp9 tables have been pretty good, so I'm looking forward to this one.

The VP8 version is at Pinball Nirvana and you don't need an account to download it.

The table works perfectly for me on a 4x3 resolution monitor, I can't check it on other systems as I don't have any different systems. If a person doesn't want to rotate his monitor, VP9 seems to be more of a toy for playing around with tables by authors. This is why I'm not uploading this version to Pinball Nirvana, as it's really more for testing VP9's flippers and physics. I like the way this version plays and it's much easier to achieve your goals and get better scores, but VP9 is currently a hobby nightmare. whtflag.gif

Yeah, VP9 physics are definitely worth playing around with if your computer can do it. The "feel" is pretty nice. I've been playing the few 4x3 tables available right now. All have been a lot of fun, especially pinbot & cactus canyon. I suppose I'll just do like many others and wait for a more ready-to-use vp9 for your Mars Attacks. VP8 ain't goin nowhere. dblthumb.gif

I started WWF Royal Rumble using VP9 and will finish it using VP9. I have had absolutely ZERO issues with it. In fact, it's so much easier for lights and dropwall animation, I have no desire to use VP8 again.

So, I'm not sure what the problem is with VP9, but I love it and it will only get better. smile.gif
