Modern Day Bagatelle

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VP9 Bagatelle, Counter Top, and Trade Stimulator

Author(s): tiltjlp

Description:
A new style bagatelle that combines bumpers and drop targets with the kicker cups and pins associated with old timey bagatelle. Nudge well and you might fill the EM Reels very quickly.

Modern Day Bagatelle has the potential to be as high a scoring game as some flippered tables, if you learn how to nudge it just so. 7 of the 8 kicker cups capture your ball, but the well-guarded 8th cup destroys your ball, and acts as both a Doubler Cup and an Add A Ball Cup. The more you land there the higher your score will soar.

The targets don't reset until a ball either is captured, destroyed, or drains. So as targets drop, additional Rebounder Boards become active to help keep your ball in play. and scoring even more points. If you pay attention, you'll notice yourself earning points in ways you never have before. Beware of the 3 Red Drains. Avoid those and you can play long and score well. If you hit them too often, your score will suffer. The Doubler/Add-A-Ball cup is yellow, to draw your attention to it.

Modern Day Bagatelle uses my new random variable nudging system, that extensive testing has shown does work at least to some degree. Thanks to druadic and Unclewilly for testing.

Hope you have fun playing it. You probably won't score very high at first, but with a little practice nudging, it's not that hard to hit the Doubler Add-A Ball cup.

That is neat and more addicting than I thought - probably what a lot of people say about bagatelles wink.gif
It had a "variable undefined" error with "startshake," so I deleted that out of the script. I don't know how to script sad.gif so I hope that wasn't important!
It makes you wonder how bagatelles would have been with drop targets. Well, pretty addicting, but I guess I am a little surprised those weren't invented earlier.

No, Startshake isn't important. I guess it doesn't work with my random variable nudge system. Well, since Bagatelle has been around for at least several hundred years, drop targets and bumpers never were a part of the game. I wanted to experiment and come up with a hybrid that might be of interest to folks who mostly play flippered game. One of these days I may even do a Flippered Bagatelle. I'm so happy that you enjoy Modern Day Bagatelle.

I'm kind of a history nerd (bachelor's in history from OU - go Sooners biggrin.gif) and I'm familiar with bagatelle's extensive background, so no worries happy.gif I just haven't played it nearly enough! I have yet to play a bagatelle table in real life, unless you count a Nudgy with retrofitted flippers. (I posted the only review of that one at ipdb. Still sad there just wasn't much to it.)
I gave your Airway a try too and that game is really neat! I think maaaaybe wink.gif this might be the next thing I get into for a little while - getting better familiarization with the pre-1947 games. I can't name any off the top of my head other than, well, Airway, and a few other very well known ones like Baffle Ball, Ballyhoo...uh...Nudgy...The Babe (saw it on ebay)...uh...ok. Yeah, it's time to get some better knowledge of these.

I'm a bit of a history buff myself, which is why I specialize in these old, forgotten games. If you liked Airway, you might also enjoy Sportman, which is a commercial flipperless payout game. If you even decide you would like to try your hand at recreating a bagatelle, I have several starter templates here, or PM me and I can send you one of my many project tables, and help you some along the way.

I'll look up Sportman. I haven't heard of it, along with 99% of the other bagatelles.
And wow - give me a few days to get my head together (things have been a bit busy lately) - and I will seriously try to take you up on that offer. I've been messing around playing VP tables for 3 years now and I always put off trying to make my own. Maybe it's time to quit procrastinating, and I'd have no problem starting off on tables that don't have DMDs and all kinds of stuff.
