Flash Gordon HD

Version: 1.00
Category: Future Pinball

Author(s): SZA

Description:
Bally (1980)
Flash Gordon - Bally (1980)

Original Design: Claude Fernandez
Original Artwork: Kevin O'Connor
Additional music & SFX came from the movie Flash Gordon

Basic Rules
Use the flippers to keep the ball from falling and to score points ;-).
For additional rules check the rules sheet in the game

Extravaganza
You can choose between the extravaganza and historical mode of operation.
In historical mode the pinball behaves as close as possible to the original machine.
In extravaganza mode it behaves more like DMD era pinball machines, producing more light animation, speech, background music etc. In addition, in extravaganza mode turning on four blinking lights in front of the drop targets enables the saucer for a multiball.

HD
By default all textures are high resolution to make the game look as good as possible. Modern PC with decent amount of video memory should have no problem with it.
If you use an older PC/Laptop and it does not manage, you may place the FlashGordonGfx.fpl from the ECONO.zip instead of the original FlashGordonGfx.fpl in your tables directory.

Special Keys:

SpecialKey1 A.....Room Light On Off
SpecialKey2 '.....Extravaganza vs. Historical
Hud key `.........Menu -> Rules -> score HUD
Settings Key S....Settings menu

Nicely done Sza!!! Great table!

I've got a pinball meditation/script error. Line 1499. Anyone know what that might be about?

Seems to happen in attract mode. I haven't gotten it during gameplay yet.

Thanks for all the thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

Dizzle: Bug possibly showing after game staying too long in the attract mode will be fixed in update to v1.0 if I will trace it.

blur: I'd love to, but Under-playfield sloped opposite direction makes it almost impossible to recreate the Black Hole: in FP, with FPM editor an approach can be made, but it would require VP way of working: using things creatively in all possible ways they were never intended to be used. BTW there is quite nice BH in Gottlieb Pinball Classics game for PS2 and PSP

TheNalex: Next? This hobby takes far too much time. I didn't even have time to play a real pinball because of it wink.gif . I'm tempted by a particular EM: all the building and hardly any scripting or an original, maybe or just help with some other people projects to keep it small.

I'm having a blast with this table! Music and aesthetics are awesome! Thanks!

EDIT: After playing this table with a friend of mine we noticed an issue when playing 2 player. On the third ball of the second player the music cuts out for a long while. It gets a little too intense without the awesome soundtrack but we had an absolute blast regardless. The funniest part was that my friend actually owns the Flash Gordon film adaptation, and he says the table is much better!

Another issue we had was on our sixth game the ball launched onto the cover next to the right bumper and managed to get stuck underneath it. We couldn't get it out of there and had to reset the game. I think it was wedged between the bumper and the center ramp. I'm honestly not sure how it got there.

Thanks for a great table.I'm new to emulated pinball and I'm loving it! What can I do to stop the playfield 'greying out' which happen's sometimes?

Hey Sza buddy, are you aware that your menu texture says "Sza Resents Flash Gordon" instead of "Sza Presents Flash Gordon"? Had me cracking up!
