Hi all,

I'm having problems when trying to play tables with Ultra.DMD files for the DMD.

The particular table I'm trying to get running is Diablo. God-damn it, I want to play this table so bad, and I've sunk like 8 hours into trying to get this going.

I've used the Baller Installer beta bonanza for a clean install, which should use FlexDMD to render the UltraDMD

Tables with Flex.DMD folders work fine, i.e Futurama. The Leprechaun King table that comes pre-installed has an Ultra.DMD folder and I can't see the lower slim DMD, only the puppack on the topper.

FlexDMDUI.exe is all registered and ticked.

After running the Diablo, this is the

DmdDevice.log:

 [1] 2024/04/25 12:36:38.311 ERROR | Error: The parameter is incorrect.
 [1] 2024/04/25 12:36:38.336 ERROR | No renderers found, exiting.

FlexDMD.log:

Also DmdDevice.ini has:

[virtualdmd]
enabled = true

; virtual dmd stays on top of all other windows
stayontop = true

; ignore the aspect ratio of the rendered dots when resizing
ignorear = false

; use VPM's registry values when positioning the virtual dmd
useregistry = false

; x-axis of the window position
left = 0

; y-axis of the window position
top = 0

; width of the dmd in monitor pixels
width = 1024

; height of the dmd in monitor pixels
height = 256

Any insight would be greatly appreciated <3

I have installed VPinballX 10.7, VPinMAME, DirectB2S, FlexDMD, and Freezy on my DEV PC, each using their respective installers.

I also downloaded Diablo 4.3 and the Ultra DMD pack and placed them in the appropriate folders, and everything plays smoothly.

Does UltraDMD work within FlexDMDUI.exe? It's merely a straightforward test to verify if Ultra DMD is operational. If it isn't, could you provide the full logs from DMDdevice.log and FlexDMD.log?

No, I don't think it does. I've gone into the UltraDMD setup tab before, and if it's meant to show a virtual DMD like vpinmame does, then I'm getting nothing.

Can you download latest flexdmd from github,
Overwrite the files (or put it into an other folder, including freezys dmdeevice.ini). First click to use the new install folder, 2nd click yo reregister flexdmd and ultrdmd.

If the demo is still not working, please post the full logs as attachment.

Are you using the VR version of the table by Solters? If not, the DMD may not show in VR.....and like Mike said, be sure you have the latest Flex DMD v1.9.1 installed.

I don´t know if I have a kind of issue but I will report

When I play VR with VPX 10.80 - 1335 GL. Everything works fine. DMD,UltraDMD and FlexMDD.

Normally if not works, I force external DMD and works better than normal VR DMD.

The issue is about  one of last version of VPX 10.80 - 1947 GL.

I force external DMD and nothing is showed. If not forced VR DMD works fine.

So I keep playing in old version because external DMD has color for some roms.

i reinstalled flexdmd 1.9.1 from github.
I ran flexdemo and it shows the dmd on the centre of the playfield , but this is how flexdemo ran before.

FlexDmd.log
 [1] 2024/04/26 14:51:09.699 ERROR | Missing character #13 replaced by ' '

Yea, I'm using the solters table, but have also tested with all three in case that table was the issue.
I have all the sounds, and the table can play, just no DMD :(

Diablo being a romless table, when I pres F1 it doesn't come up with the vpinmame menu to force external dmd.
And nonetheless i can't see the virtualdmd when i launch it through the other visual pinball .exe's, so even if i could force it to use the external dmd i cant seem to get it to display anywhere

I guess you have run the file FlexDMDUI.exe and checked that it is registered? And all is green?

I know there were problems with one of the VPX8 betas and vbousquet made a FlexDMD update to fix that. So be sure you have the latest versions, and run FlexDMDUI.exe to be sure everything is registered :)

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

Everything is registered.
FlexDMD version 1.9.1.0  - the last one I think so.
VPX 10.80 - 1947 GL. Doesn´t show forced External DMD if marked. If unmarked shows normal VR DMD

VPX 10.80 beta 1314 GL. Works fine for both. External DMD if marked and VR DMD.

Nothing more we can do here. Just open a bug report in the VPX8 hithub. I think you have tested enough versions and you will be able to explain what's wrong and how it worked before :)
