CPU i would get at least a 9700k coffee lake, or better, if needing to maintain the budget, the 9700k will do the job just fine.

GPU wise, i would go at least an RTX 3060, move upwards as your budget allows

If you intended to run say 120Hz, i would probably shoot for a 3080

Personal if i was looking for a 43" playfield, either Asus ROG Strix or Asus ROG Swift

i would not even bother with a TV

5700XT and I run tables at 144Hz

3080 I think maybe overkill, you should be able to use something less and get 120Hz at 4K

I'm relieved that you think my motherboard and power supply are still good enough for the above goodies. I'll start shoping around and getting dimensions for the monitor as it must fit in the cab.
Thanks guys!

PSU is a simply upgrade

Just make not of the wattage of the CPU you chose to use as an upgrade

an RTX 3080 uses about 350 watts

the highest CPU use would be around 125 watts

and i5 9700k is only 95 watts

then your ram and SSD

So youd get by on the existing one
If you went with a lower GPU, then even more so

If you went with a higher wattage CPU and a 3080 or higher, then i'd suggest bump the PSU to 850 watts

Now if you have a lot of heavy PSU driven cooling fans dont forget to factor those in.

I generally power my cooling fans elsewhere (Even in a PC, i use 120vac case fans, so they dont count for PSU load)

Not so fast, you can't install a 9700K CPU (LGA1151) into an ASUS P8Z77-V LK (LGA1155) motherboard. They're different generations hardware, different sockets. I'm afraid in order to run 4K at 120Hz (especially with PUP) you'll need to revamp your computer. You will definitely need a new processor, which means a new motherboard and RAM, and most likely new cooling. A beefy GPU is a must (3070ti probably sufficient but 3080 or 4070 more future proof, especially if you want to play with anaglyph 3D at 4K/120Hz). Your PSU is not sufficient, like wiess said the math adds up really fast so min 750-850W. And you'll want to update your OS to windows 10, the older OS does not play nice with OpenGL and high resolutions.

BTW, I'm facing a similar dilemma atm, currently running an i7-4790K with 1080ti good enough for 4K DSR at 60Hz (on a 46" 1080p Samsung) but would need to revamp everything upgrading to true 4K/120Hz.

Awe damn :(

came up on a compatibility list too, but you are right, it will not

Could always go the ryzen 5 5600, and am4 motherboard route

yeah true its very dependent on the table/author and also I'm not considering backglass and PUP etc... so you may be right in terms of needing a bit more than what I'm saying because of different use cases.

For me? yea overkill
most of the VPW tables i just run JP's versions.

They make nice tables yes, but i get tired of stripping out the VR room cause i dont use VR anyways

and i don't really use PUP, so then i have to putz with removing that.

But yea if a person thinks they may be interested and want those to run at 120hz, you are stuck going a bit what seems overkill

Lot of people with 4k 60hz screens though, and they do great with just a 3060.

PUP is all CPU
Software decoded, so all that load lands directly on the CPU
especially when the PUP pack media is higher than 720p

1080p not super bad, but it kind of ramps up from there.

No one wants 720 PUP media though, even though a stern spike2 table or spooky or jersey jack is only 720p in real life (DMD)

Do you know where I should shop besides Amazon and Best Buy? And what web site is good for comparing specs?

You can try newegg.com ?

I know you can scrounge the internet and probably find lower, but i prefer to pay a few dollars more and use a reputable vendor
who will take care of things in the event something is wrong, defective, damaged etc

Not sure if you have access to Microcenter where you're at? This would be a nice deal to get you started:

There's no Microcenter up here but there is Newegg and Memoryexpress. It's going to be tuff to stay within budget.

If you are not married to Intel platform, you can lower the cost a lot by using AMD

I've never used AMD chips. Are they as good as Intel and good with Windows? That's another thing, I'll need to get Windows 11.

Thanks for your above choices. I'll have a close look at them but I have to add 30% for the Canadian equivalents. I'm also going to need a cooling fan for the microprocessor and a new power supply (small ticket items).

CPU comes with a fan

Yes, AMD CPU's are just fine, hell i have not used an Intel CPU since the last 80286 i build.

You can install windows 11 and buy the license later if that helps
all it does is display a register my watermark at lower right of desktop, and disable some vanity features you wont care about, after the trial period.

It still runs otherwise.

(beware of buying false licenses for magical low prices of $20 etc, windows 11 is around $130 for home and $160 for pro, you only need home. $154 and $194 CDN)
