After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

What ? You've done another table already ! Looking at Laylow' video, it seems that Popotte had some great resources, maybe a re-draw ? I thank you both for what looks to be another great VPX release. :otvclap: :love39:

Eight Ball and Royal Flush are the two tables that REALLY got me hooked on pinball back in the '70's.  Thanks so much JPSalas for putting this together, very appreciated

My children and I appreciate the many tables you and others have created.
I just want to express my thanks to all your effort not only on this table but on all the ones before as well.

This table was updated a couple of days ago to version 2.0, iper the download specs, t contains the following improvements :

  • 2.0.0 Updated 04.01.2020
  • - New SSF sounds
  • - New environment image and materials
  • - New arcade physics

JP: It plays amazing, much more difficult than the previous versions and more in line with how I believe a just out-of-the-factory NIB Eight Ball would play (with new rubbers, etc).  I haven't had many opportunities to test your recent table updates with the improve "arcade" physics but I am certainly sold on them.  Superb job, thank you sir!

I did find a potential error.  The red 8 ball target appears white due to the lighting I gather, even if we turn the lighting all the way down to simulate a dark room.  I noticed that target is set to "toy".  If I set it to "plastic" like some of the previous versions of eight ball, it then appears red, which I think is how it should look.  This may not be a correct fix, but it works for me, thought I'd let you know in case the whitish look is not by design :)

With no official update to this thread I thought I'd mention it here since as a huge fan of the original table, I think it is the best version yet released and people need to try this out.

Yes, my "toy" material has some extra glossy and clearcoated color on it. It works well for the most kind of objects, it all depends on the objects around, but some of them it is better to use one material without that glossy and clearcoat, like my "plastic" material in which all are turned off.

UPDATE

4.0.0 Updated 24.9.2022
- Updated to my VPX7 physics
- cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
- Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darken the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
- Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
- Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
- Some small small script updates, like the Rolling sound and PlaySoundAt routines.
- Made the light inserts warmer.

Thanks for the update, love this table, the VPX7 LUT changer is a nice touch and works really well. I was getting an error on line #38 "if B2SOn = true then VarHidden = 1" I commented it out and all is good now....and it still works :)

Same for me. Varhidden wasn't found anywhere in the script
