File Name: Pit Stop (Williams 1968)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 30 Nov 2023

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Halen
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1968
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the table by /Williams from 1968.

Thanks to Halen for the graphics redraw.

The DB2S was made by hauntfeaks, I simply adjusted it to the table (I couldn't get the credits reels to work)

This is a VPX7 table, but it can also be played with later versions.

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

I've played the game, but there seem to be some problems... :wimper:

Problem 1:

There are some sounds that are not coming out...

Reset sound at start,10 point sound,100 point sound,& lap counter sound...

Problem 2:

The replay counter does not increase even after the specified lap is reached...

It's very well made, but I'm a little disappointed...

I know you are busy, but I would appreciate it if you could fix it... :Worship:

Bells 2, 3, and 4 aren't referenced in the script although they are in the sound manager.

The credit reel works for me JP.

The score reels don't have sound.  If they do, it is very low.

UPDATE

1.0.1 Updated 1.12.2023
- Bug fix: fixed sounds and laps not giving a replay.

Things happen when VP crashes and you forget what was the last fixes you made between saves :D
But I had forgotten the sound of the lap lights, so now it is there too :)

Dear JP, dear Halen, dear hauntfeaks,

thank you for this cute game! The appearance of the score reels is breathtaking! One tiny remark: on the next update please supply the screws for the bumper caps (I have done this already in my copy of the game).

Sincerely, Christian.

All that I can say is thank you! I owned this table about 10 years ago and have been missing it so badly. Now I can play again without any of the headache that comes with owning an EM.

Yes, owning an EM must be a nightmare :) I have seen some videos on YouTube of the Masquerade table, and how they find the things that are not working. That job is insane! :) So many cables and special build motors! :)

The score counting mech in this thing was insane. It's a giant spinning drum with countless switches that tell the track lamps where to be and what score to give to which player. It is way louder on the real thing, too. I remember cleaning all the contacts and hating every minute of it. Was totally worth the struggle, though. I was going to ask if this is setup for dof feedback. None of the em machines I have seem to work with dof and I'm fairly certain it's my fault. Still this table is amazing and I wasted half the day playing!

I owned an EM in my teens.
Suffice to say that it never ever became fully functional.

It was very old when i got it at a garage sale, and did not work at all.

It got to the point of sort of working, but it needed someone with way more time and a lot more money than a 16 year old kid living in a garage trying to keep himself in school.
Mind you i am pretty sure that a good number of issues stemmed from trying to resurrect contact points that simply should not have been.

once they are burnt and worn, doesn't matter what you hone them with, they are not going to stay working.

But new ones cost money.

Playfield wood was in a pretty poor state too, the thing had sat for eons in a damp basement.

Everything metal was rusty, cloth wiring insulation was rotten etc etc etc.

It eventually found a new home, hopefully they actually restored it right.

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i dont have any way to receive it anyways

If you really want to get rid of money you can donate to this
