Here is the procedure to set the number of balls on Gottlieb System 3 Alpha-Numeric tables. These were the last Gottlieb tables produced before they went to the DMD systems with their System 3 tables.
1. Press 7 to enter diagnostic mode.
2. Press Left Shift key to enter adjustments mode.
3. Continue to press 7 until you reach the balls per game option (usually option 17)
4. Using the shift keys, change this setting to either 3 or 5 balls.
5. Press F3 to save changes and reset the table.
This procedure should work for the following tables:
Gottlieb System 3 Alpha tables:
Carribean Cruise (cocktail table), Lights..Camera..Action, Silver Slugger, Vegas*, Deadly Weapon*, Title Fight, Car Hop, Bell Ringer^^, Hoops, Cactus Jacks, Class of 1812, Surfin' Safari^, Operation Thunder^
*- for these tables, use the A and ‘(single quote) keys instead of the shift keys to make the adjustments
^- for these tables, the option for balls in play is different. For Surfin’ Safari it is option 28, for Operation Thunder it is option 29
^^ - for this table, ball per game can be selected between 1 and 9 balls (Thanks to SPARKY70 for that information)
