Finally got a chance to check out your vids, well done Randr!  Its very clear what needs to be done and you did a great job to stress on two very important points:

- Cameras need to be mounted in such a way that they won't move.  If they move, you will have problems with calibration

- Its not a bad idea to start with a fresh BAM.  I had problems until I started fresh and once I did, I never had a problem calibration or using BAM with IR Tracking.

This info was provided by King Randr, so thanks buddy, great vid, I do believe this will help many out there.

Rob

I hope so. Can get frustrating fast if it takes days!!! It ain't like calibration/mounting cams is automatic. But well worth a hour of setting up. As long as cams don't move that's the first and last time you you calibrate the system. So everyone mount cams securely somehow. But test location first! Then mount and re calibrate and your done forever.

For the curious, I did a silly little unboxing video of randr's stuff. It got me up and running in no time.

Enjoy.

Well like I say, tape them in place to "test" if you get a spot that works mount them! I bet Paul would warranty a hole drilled wouldn't ya Paul? Lol! This really does make future pinball live up to its name! Well worth the time to setup. Once cams are mounted solid you never have to calibrate again.

Sure ... If I make the holes ...

If i had one, i would. fairly easy thing really.

Hardest part is modding the battery compartment i suppose...I re-wire it in parallel so it puts out 1.5v with 4 double A's, if you don't do that led would explode. Yes explode. :)

I use 4 double A's so batteries should last a year.

Other stuff is very simple basic stuff.

Randr,

Thank you for offering this mod!  I would love to order a kit (I have a Virtualpin widebody by Paul, how do I order from you?  Would like the belt clip for now, however, could I just drill a hole in the coin door for the headphone jack if I later decide to mod it to the coin door?

Sincerely,

Dennis

P.S.  Do you take PayPal?

I spent a ton of time designing the "battery pac" for belt mount. Its all contained in the pack including the aux plug. You could use it to mount in door with a aux cable plugged in the pack and other end to jack in door i suppose. Yes you can just paypal to my email if in US shipping is $12.35 flat rate medium box.

Randr, What kind of IR LED's do you use on the glasses and board, 940nm or 850nm?

I have used both. And still do. One has a red glow you can see performance wise they are about the same for what I use them for

One thing in video I didn't mention is both cams should be in wide angle mode! Lens turns left and right both turned toward blue led is wide angle. If one is zoom and one wide not sure what would happen.

Just wanted to say thank you for offering this excellent kit! With your instructional video, it was a breeze to set up! The only problem I encountered was with the updated version of BAM (could not access the menu), after doing some research, found out it was a bug in the BAM program and was corrected with their 11/11/13 update. I have been a VP fan and do not have many FP tables, however, after experiencing the 3D effect with your kit (and the improved physics), I have been converted! Thank you also for your excellent customer service (appreciated your quick call back responses) and suggestions. The only 3D effect that I did not like was the strong simulated overhead light that BAM added for realism. Found out you can turn the simulated light off by setting the light strength option to a value of 0. Also would suggest to create a system restore point once up and running as when I was playing around with the light settings the FP program crashed and I had to recalibrate (not that big a deal, it only took about 10 minutes to recalibrate). My wife (who is not a gadget person) even got a kick out of the illusion (and loved her pink T-shirt)! Anyone who is playing FP without this setup is truly missing a fantastic experience! Thank you and the BAM developer to bring new life to FP!

Agreed a few versions of bam can throw a curve ball into the mix. Rav really has done a fantastic job on bam! Is really the coolest visual thing you can do on a cab.

Glad she liked the pink shirt! :) and even more glad you got everything working so easy!

You really meet great people in this hobby Dennis is another great guy for sure
