FAIRY FAVORS

Welcome to the forest of the Fairy Kingdom! But before you can join the fairies, you must prove yourself worthy and complete fairy training. Earn your wings, master pixie dust, learn fairy magic, and more to be inducted into the Seelie Court. But beware, an army of goblins, ghouls and dark fairies threatens to destroy the kingdom! In addition to your fairy training, you will be tasked with helping the fairies to win the war against the Unseelie King and his minions. Forge weapons, defeat invaders, and restore peace to the land of the fairies. Good luck! Let the spirits of the forest guide your path.

This table is a complete 100% VP original made entirely by me from the ground up (starting with the blank table that comes with VPX of course). Most of the art on the table is hand-painted or hand-drawn by me. However, most of the art on the DMD was generated and animated with various AI tools. The music was composed and performed by me.

Once again, the backglass, wheel and additional cabinet scripting/creation was done by the ever-generous and helpful @jogrady7. I tried to make it myself and failed hahaha. Very grateful to him.

FAIRY TRAINING QUESTS:

Learn the ways of the fairy with these simultaneous Quests triggered by different shots. Beat all six Quests to earn 100,000,000 points!

WING – Earn your wings by shooting the Sky Ramp to spell W-I-N-G and start flight practice. Then shoot both ramps repeatedly to spread your new wings and fly! Make 7 shots to beat the Quest.

DUST – Shot the left orbit to spell D-U-S-T and study the art of pixie dust. The magical powders will come pouring from the sandbag on the left orbit. Run your ball beneath the bag to gather pixie dust, then shoot either ramp to sprinkle it across the land. Repeat this three times to beat the Quest and master pixie dust.

ECHO – Part of the duty of a fairy is to serve as guardians and stewards of the enchanted forest. Find wandering spirits lost in the woods by shooting the wooden Bridge Ramp to spell E-C-H-O. Once a glowing ghostly wisp appears on the table, shoot the corresponding shot to capture it. This will illuminate the “ethereal path” -- a ramp that can only be accessed once you’ve safely captured a lost Echo. Shoot the right Jinx orbit to line up a shot with the upper left flipper. Don’t worry, a guide target will slow your ball down and give you a second to prepare for the tricky ethereal ramp shot! Make the shot to carry the spirit home to the afterlife. Repeat once more to beat the Quest.

POND – Shot the Forage Spinner around the Giant Mushroom to spawn ingredients on the grassy hill. They will grow at random rates and in random spots, so you may have to shoot the spinner a lot or a little to grow a full garden. Whenever you’re ready, shoot the left Dust orbit to climb onto the grassy hill and collect all the ingredients. Repeat this as needed until you’ve collected 20 or more ingredients. Then hit the POND targets to flood the Sprite Pool around the Giant Mushroom. Dunk your ball in the sacred waters to drop in the ingredients you collected and make an offering to Mother Nature. This beats the Quest. (The only Quest with no time limits. Finish at your leisure!)

RING – Hit the small middle orbit that encircles the Giant Mushroom to spell R-I-N-G and scout locations for the perfect fairy ring. Once RING is lit, a forest clearing will appear with tiny mushrooms on it. Roll over the mushrooms to grow them to full size and open the Portal to the Fae Realm. Enter the portal to beat the Quest.

JINX – Up for a challenge? Hit the right orbit to spell J-I-N-X and study fairy magic. Once you think you’ve learned enough, enter the den in the right Jinx orbit to test your knowledge. The fairy wizards will give you either an incantation to memorize or a magical element to memorize. Glance at the screen below your flippers to remember the symbol before it vanishes. The correct symbol will then appear on the table among three other incorrect ones. Shoot the right shot to master the charm. Repeat once more to learn fairy magic and beat the quest. If you shoot the wrong shot, you’ll have to return to the den to learn a new spell.

WAR MISSIONS:

While Fairy Training missions can stack and occur simultaneously, Missions happen one at a time. Shoot the “WAR” target on the far left of the table to light the Mission light. Then shoot the Giant Mushroom to start a random Mission. Beat all six Missions to earn 100,000,000 points AND that coveted extra ball.

ARMY – Orcs, ogres, goblins and griffins will appear on the table in the form of targets. Strike them all down to win the Mission. The longer you wait, the more enemies appear, so act fast! You can’t beat the Mission until no enemies remain.

FORGE – Forge magical fairy weapons to use in the war against the Unseelie Court. Once this Mission starts, a wire ramp will appear to divert your ball into the smoldering forge. Hit the left orbit across the grassy hill to enter the forge and heat up your ball. An anvil will descend in front of the weapon you’re trying to craft. Strike the anvil twice to forge the weapon. Repeat once more to win the Mission.

DEFEND – Video mode! On the DMD screen, a flying imp will descend onto the fairy castle.  Wait until the demon is perfectly aligned above the magic wand in the center and press the plunger key to blast it out of the sky and win the Mission.

RESCUE – Things have gotten serious. The Unseelie Army has captured the entire royal fairy family. Shoot either ramp (Bridge or Sky) to rescue the Prince, Princess, King and Queen from certain doom. Each rescue has a limited countdown so be quick! Rescue all four to beat the Mission.

UNSEELIE KING – After losing his army and failing his imp infiltration mission, the Unseelie King decided to take things into his own claws and invade the fairy forest himself. The black wings of the demon king will appear and slowly approach your flippers. Strike the Unseelie King six times to defeat him and beat the Mission.

PEACE AND PLENTY – Now that the war has been won, all that’s left is to rebuild. Shoot the alternating rainbow ramps to restore peace and plenty to the fairy kingdom. Shoot each ramp twice to beat the Mission.

ORACLE CARDS:

The real points haul for Fairy Favors lies in the Oracle Cards. Every other time you beat a Quest or Mission, a magical Oracle Card will appear. Hit the card to collect it. This will generate a unique table feature such as a garden of fairy flowers, a glowing prism of light, or a psychedelic mushroom of illusion! Hit these special objects as much as you can for the short time they appear. They’re worth many MANY more points than any other shot.

OTHER FEATURES:

HIDDEN TARGET – Hit the orange target tucked away behind the Giant Mushroom to either light the ball saver or start the Hurry Up on the Sky ramp.

SLOT MACHINE – Any time your ball whips around the right orbit, the giant moon on the playfield will light up briefly. Shoot the moon with your upper left flipper at EXACTLY the right time to trigger the Fortune of the Fae slot machine. This could award you points, a ball saver, a free oracle card, a free Mission, or nothing at all. It even has a special unique table feature hidden inside. Will you be lucky enough to win the Super Mushroom? Also, hitting the normal Giant Mushroom enough times will give you a free spin on the Slot Machine.

FAIRY WING BONUS CHANCE – The holographic fairy wings in the middle of the table aren’t just for decoration. Every other Quest or Mission you beat will start a Bonus Chance. The holographic wings will flash and play a twinkling sound. Hit the wings to win big points every shot! But be fast, this only lasts a few seconds.

MULTIBALL - You didn’t think I forgot a multiball mode, did you? While this mode isn’t part of the main quest system, it is worth a lot of points! Every other time you beat a Quest or Mission, the ball lock will be lit inside the fairy den on the right Jinx orbit. Lock three balls to start multiball, then hit the Echo ramp to win a jackpot. Every oracle card you collect increases your jackpot permanently.

I decided not to do a “final big quest” with this table. It was already complex and chaotic enough. I’ve realized the better you get at this table the more chaos happens at once. If you really know what shots to hit and when, this table gets INSANE with all the stuff happening concurrently. Good luck with that!

Another weird and wonderful Table by CrimsonTurtle8 to compliment their Spellcast Machine, both beautifully painted yet much more complicated than they appear with lots of surprises. Very nice, thank you.

Hello, thanks for the table.

I have a problem when executing it, I will copy the error code, it is on line 1123, I had no problems with other tables. Thank you so much !

Line: 1123
The object does not accept this property or method: 'ClockHand1.Opacity'

That's odd, I just tested the clock and the hands fade in and out with no problem. I'm not sure what the problem would be. Are the clock hand(s) materials still set to PlasticWhite1 -- that should have transparency enabled. Even then it shouldn't crash the table. I've never run into that even once. Are you using VP 10.7 or 10.8? It was designed in 10.7 but has run fine in 10.8 all the times I tested it.

Wierd table but nice.

I noticed while playing ball gets stuck on right side.

please fix

Oh okay, I'll try. Where specifically? In the plunger lane? On top of the upper "hill" area? Underneath it? Thanks!

Thanks for your answer.

I ran it in 10.7 and 10.8 and I get the same error in the script. How odd :-(

I guess my suggestion would be to check the material (PlasticWhite1) in the material manager and make sure "Enable Transparency" is checked. It should be, but with frequent 10.8 updates, things tend to change and break randomly. Even if this was unchecked, it shouldn't crash, but someone who knows more about the software might understand why better than me.
