space shuttle taito 1984 mecatronics

Screenshots
Based on the Mecatronics (taito) table from 1982.
- Thanks to Carlos Guizzo for all the resources including the redraw images by DanielZ.
- Thanks also to editoy for the backglasses, although I used the redraw from DanielZ to make the backdrop in the desktop view.
- Shuttle model by NASA, texture modified by Sepeteus and by me.
- Playfield based on the redraw by DanielZ
- Plastics and apron redrawn by me.

Some notes:
- Fastflips is enabled. If you still use an older VPX or vpinmame you may need to change line 21 from Const UseSolenoids = 2 to Const UseSolenoids = 1. This means: if your flippers don't work, then change this line :)
- I got permission from pinball58 to use his 3D ramp model, but I didn't use it. You know me I always like to use VPX own objects :) So I used walls and ramps to make those ramps and plastics. And since I redraw all the plastics then I made them fit. They may not 100% to the original, but they look nice to me :)
- The rules should be similar if not the same as Williams Space Shuttle, but the playfield has a few differences.

What's New in Version 4.0.0 (See full changelog)

  • 4.0.0 Updated 29.8.2022
  • - Updated to my VPX7 physics
  • - cleaned up and deleted unused graphics & reduced the size of the table
  • - Added my VPX7 LUT changer to darker the table (hold down LEFT CTRL while change with RIGHT CTRL). Including GI brightness adjustment. Use the LUT changer together with the day/night slider to give the table the level of darkness you prefer.
  • - Updated my mechanical set of sounds to a more "under the glass" sound, as people seem to like those kind of sounds better.
  • - Changed the Environment image to enhance a little the object shadows.
  • - Made the light inserts warmer, mostly the white lights.
  • 3.0 Updated 19.12.2020
  • Updated script & physics:
  • - added the arcade physics 3.0
  • - new rolling routine that now includes the ball shadow, the ball drop sound from Rothbauer and my ball speed control.
  • - Easy change of the ambient lightning: Hold down LeftMagnaSave and with RightMagnaSave it will switch between LUT images, from light to dark, 9 levels, and the selection will be saved for the table.
  • - some extra collision sounds and more random hit sounds.
  • 2.0.0 Updated 15.12.2019
  • - Script changes:
  • Added SSF sound and exchanged some mechanical sounds.
  • Added new fading lights routine which uses less cpu for the flash objects.
  • Added the NVram patch for Taito do Brasil tables by Pmax65, which fixes possible rom errors when quiting the tables during play.
  • Enabled fastflips
  • - New environment image for better looking metals and for better adjustment of the Night -> Day cycle.
  • - New material settings to suit the new environment image.
  • - added 3 colorgradeLUT images for normal, saturated and half saturated to better fit your monitor. The default is the normal color.
  • - New VPX physics (jp's arcade physics with lower friction and heavier flippers).Changed all the objects in contact with the ball: playfield, rubbers, plastics, metals, flippers, slingshots, bumpers...
  • - Extra decorations like a subtile ball shadow and flipper decorations
  • 1.0.0 Released 14.08.2018

Cool, i didn't know and didn't check on IPDB, that Space Shuttle is also avaiable as Taito - thank you JP :)

I Play FS but looking great on DT, wow

Thanks for this release ... 1st i thought it was a mistake that this table ois from "Taito"; but really this table exists from Taito too =))

Thanks

Wow thanks JP! My High school favourite.

Thanks for the post, but it's not working for me. VP just loads the playfield and the backglass and does nothing else. I'm using VPX5. Any idea for this problem?

Yes, I have a good idea, but I guess you didn't read the "Notes" I wrote :) So read that line that start with "- This is a Taito table, so..."

Thanks jpsalas for the question return, but I had already deleted the sshuttle.nv file and even then nothing happens.

A very nice table, now we do have the shuttle, we really need a space station!

If your flippers do not work:

change "Const UseSolenoids = 2 to Const UseSolenoids = 1"

Thank you JP :)
