Which IR lenses (brand) do you use? What size?

I understood that he removes the existing IR filters from the EyeCams, and replaces them with a section of floppy disc media. The process has been fairly well documented in other threads and on YouTube.

I received a complete kit from randr, and I must say it works flawlessly.  Following the setup on the BAM site for getting the HT PS3 cameras (which also refer you to the Wii Cams) to work.  Took about 30 min to get it up and running.

Well worth the money if you don't want to screw around with it yourself modding cameras.

Glad you got it setup! BAM is really great with the IR tracking no doubt! did you notice I left shrink tube on wires but not "shrunk" so when you wired it you could then use shrink tubing? :)

I recently added toys to the pincab (more on that later) and Rand's IR based kit to replace the single ps3 eye system shown in my previous "loafer pincab WIP #7" video. As indicated previously, this "3d" system works with future pinball, via some add-on hardware. This kit which consisted of:

2 modified ps3 eye cameras
A calibration board
Safety glasses modified with a single led for tracking purposes (lenses removed)
Battery pack to power either the glasses or the calibration board
A cute case for the battery pack. ;)

If anyone has a pincab, or want one one day, this vid shows the immense potential of this add-on.

Enjoy WIP #8. Big thanks to Jason (Randr), who tirelessly helped me with the setup and put together this kit. Jason supports what he sells man, he's unreal! also huge props to Rav who created the FP software add-on known as BAM.

I have found that every person has issues with calibration setup due to really no instructions anywhere!

I will do a video this weekend but you must start with reality settings!! input all settings for your cabinet and the "shift y" is how high you will have led during 3 point.

Then you need to adjust some things under ht-PS3 cams menu:

Gain: 57

Exposure: 151

FPS: 320x240

OSD: grid

Min brightness: 40

Req. brightness: 93

Min. dot weight: 20

These can be tweaked for your environment but work great for me.

Cams must be solid mounted but for testing make sure the dont move around and play with the locations i prefer them just below DMD angled up as to see me better THIS IS BIGGEST issue i think guys have is where the and how they mount cams!

Then do calibration, first board then 3 point.

I will do a video this weekend as it is hard to understand on Rav's site and i will explain everything.

I hope it helps as it can get frustrating very fast for people when it don't work. I forgot a few things like Developer drivers/libs  for dual PS3 cams but im assuming everyone can download those and install them. If needed i will do a complete start to finish video but i will see how this helps first.

Many thanks for the videos, I cant get the set up as good as yours as had to mount my cameras on top of the backbox, also my cab is by a wall, but the results are still quite impressive. Great help having all the settings as well.

Thanks Randr

yeah having cams on top of the backbox is not a good location, but will "work" I think you would be better off maybe attaching them to the lower sides of backbox. Or maybe use the board then cams are mounted to that and sits ontop of the rear part of playfield glass then you remove them when not in use! cause they are mounted to wood when you put them back they are in same location each time! I would suggest gluing swivel base so it don't move once you have angle set then its good to go.

I was wondering if folks had attached to the lower sides of the back box successfully. I'm nervous about drilling holes into my Virtuapin.

Well like I say, tape them in place to "test" if you get a spot that works mount them! I bet Paul would warranty a hole drilled wouldn't ya Paul? Lol! This really does make future pinball live up to its name! Well worth the time to setup. Once cams are mounted solid you never have to calibrate again.
