File Name: Scorpion (Williams 1980) VPX

File Submitter: allknowing2012

File Submitted: 06 Feb 2016

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): Allknowing2012
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1980
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

A tough wide body from Williams. Try to keep the ball in the upper playfield to score the targets.

The table has the trademarked "Lane Change" right flipper and the trademarked "Multi-Ball".

This is a new recreation with all the various playfield walls and objects. The various 10 point rubbers have been included as well.
The plastics are not the best but are pretty descent.

The left and right eject holes are a challenge but can payoff with multi-ball rewards.

Tips from ipdb.org:

  • Max the Left and Right Bonus and the associated Multiplier.
  • Start Multiball and collect its Double Timer Bonus.
  • Light and collect the Left and Right bonuses during Multiball.
  • Keep Multiball going for as long as possible, collecting the awards on the Right Lane when lit
Note the FS pf is NOT stretched to full length to try and provide the illusion of widebody.

Enjoy!
Allknowing2012

Feel free to try out the other Williams System 6 Widebody.

Hi, I'm getting a controller.vbs error. How do I enable B2s on this one also?

Sounds like you dont have the very latest VPx where controller.vbs was added to the scripts.

Go to  "Getting Started" up above ..  grab "Visual Pinball X - EXE only" from the VP Downloads.

Assuming you need the exe as well - just to be sure.

Copy all the files (except the scripts directory), into your VP directory.

Right click on each of the bass.dll,freeImage.dll,SciLexar.dll and vpinball.exe files and click UNBLOCK .. if it shows that on the bottom right.

Now,  copy the files *inside* the scripts directory from the downloaded zip to *both* your scripts directory AND your tables directory.

Update to the latest 10.1 beta 2528 build or use the official VPX 10.0 release build.

Remove the file user/controller.txt then run the table again. Now answer the questions and dont choose dof :-)

I'm having some trouble with the plunger not working in this table.  Do I need to change any settings or anything in the script?

Both the the zeb plunger and enter key are working for me.  Tried with VPX original and a VPX beta version

Does the enter key work - what exactly are you seeing/not seeing? Its pretty common simple plunger code.

I just redownloaded .. the plunger is simple "plunger.pullback" - I cant see how this cannot work unless you dont have the same keycodes that everyone else does.

I haven't downloaded this yet, but my buddy just sent me a set of plastic scans from this game. Not sure if they were already scanned, but if someone wants them I'll upload them. Thanks.

Plastics -- sure thing .. I had to piece them together from poor internet images. I am sure I can bug Hauntfreaks to assist as well ;-)

I'll upload them to the resources section for you guys. Or I could learn how to vectorize images in photoshop and contribute myself. Either way, we'll get it done.

Thanks for the reply.  I have the plunger re-mapped to "6", through the keys options in VPX, for my X-Arcade, but this works fine on every other table I play.  I press the key and the plunger doesn't move.  Same key I'm using for all other tables.

I wonder if the included vbs file is somehow over-riding things. Each maker/brand has their own vbs file included. I dont have that handy to check but that might be the cause.

Look near the top of the script for the VPM included file and open that up in notepad ..see if anything there sticks out ..

Awesome .. I will get an update out in the next day or so..

I checked the S6.vbs file - nothing obvious in there that would stop the key from working UNLESS that key is mapped to something else in vpmkeys or something.

Can you easily change your key maps just to test the theory?

Sure... I just used the keymapping options in VPX to change it, so let me try another key.  I hadn't done that simply because it wasn't affecting any of my other tables, but it's easy to test.  I'll let you know if it works.

*edit*  Ok, so yes that did work.  If I change it from 6 to another key the plunger works.  So, I can check vpmkeys to see if there was a conflict, but it seems like that would have affected all my other tables too.  I had it mapped to 6 for all my tables because it was in a good spot on the controller, but I can remap it to something else.  Thanks for your help with this.

*edit*  Ok, so looking at vpmkeys... I had to change a few keys based on some instructions in another thread for X-Arcade mapping problems... so, I had changed the vpmkeys fire to "29 - left ctrl" so that it wouldn't conflict... is it possible that this conflicted with only this table somehow?
