Remove swURFlip line

the table has no swURFlip

the switch ID will make the table play a super hero sound form the ROM
but nothing happens aside from the sound, no score happens no solenoids show activation, no lamps change

i found some other switches that will make the rom make sounds

but they don't exist in the electrical schematics

technician easter eggs i guess?
or an internal diagnostic?

Remove swURFlip line

the table has no swURFlip

the switch ID will make the table play a super hero sound form the ROM

Unfortunately there is no change when I remove this line in the script, compile, save and reload the table. I can still hear the super hero sound coming from the ROM and I also hear a plunger release sound. Here is a short video showing what I mean by the plunger release sounds every time I press or hold the right flipper (may need to turn the volume up to hear it clearly). The super hero sounds happen on each right flipper press.

I'm not sure if there is anything further I can check to remove these sounds, or at least the plunger sound when pressing the right flipper.

If you have any other ideas, I'd like to try.

I would redownload the table and start over, because none of that is happening here.

you got something going on that's only happening on your copy and should not even happen at all unless you set use solenoids 2 which you should not as it is a SAM controller ROM

Unfortunately, even after downloading the table again, the same issue persists. I just won't play this table.

Thanks for all your help though.

not sure what to say, it isnt the table itself.

EDIT

I know what it is!

You have staged flipper buttons dont you?

you are sending buttons you dont mean to be sending
and this particular ROM responds to a number of unused switches for unknown reasons

you need to tell VPX to ignore (not pass to vpm) the staged slipper keys

add this to the script right under Randomize

Option Explicit
Randomize

Const cSingleRFlip = 0
Const cSingleLFlip = 0

JP you can add that next time you update it

LE ROM is Weird in that, it does not even turn flippers off at game over, pro ROM does

PRO ROM does not play sounds when poking unused switches, LE ROM makes sounds from a number of switches that are not even used in the machine

Easter Eggs LOL

I'll make a fix for the table when I come home next week :)

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

vp.jpg

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

it is a very freakishly odd quire with that specific ROM

Only stern could explain it.

If you notice, even at game over, power is never cut to the flippers

and the rom responds to a number of switches that do not exist in the table at all

now try the Pro ROM
You will see none of those quirks exist.

Only STern could explain that.

Similar happening on Batman Dark Knight (hitting the crane with UR flipper), with the same fix. Thanks for figuring that one out, Wiesshund :)

It is likely an emulation issue with the differences between the LE and the PRO.  I used to own an Avengers Hulk LE and when the game ended, the flippers died as they should.  So something isn't right here.

I think this was a known issue from years ago when SAM was introduced. That said, won't hurt so I will do so

BTW part 2:  For some reason I am also getting the weird flipper sounds as mentioned by DKONG but I do not use staged flippers. The fix did work for me. That said, it made me also notice that I'm... not getting any of the music? I went to the ROM settings and the music were at 0 by default. I upped them to near max level but it is making no difference.  I reset the nvram and the issue still persists.  Can anyone else confirm that you are also getting no music compared to the PRO version?   If confirmed, I will also make a VPM bug report

Yes, i have music.

reason you hear the sounds is, for you, staged flipper key = fliiper key

it is defined in vpmkeys.vbs, so by default of one does not have a staged setup, you arent sitting there looking at dead flips that never move

so you are hitting the swurflip without knowing it.

i do not have them either but from working on the updates for staged flipper support, i still have them temporarily set up and U and I

which was where i discovered that if i held down I i got noises

then i ran a timer to sequence through a bunch of switches that the table also doesnt have and got more funky noise.

kind of amusing, weird, but amusing.

May be some kind of misinterpretation in vpm like you said.

Only thing offhand i can suggest on the music

display the vpm dmd, put it in focus and hit ~

arrow up or down, see if any of the audio processors might be defaulting to too low to hear

not sure if that will do much in this ROM? in black knight though it makes a heck of a difference in music volume

Thanks to Toxie and the VPM team the flipper "fast flips" issue is fixed in the latest build of VPM!  Way to go @toxie

For the music, I'll have to re-enable the DMD (I use a real DMD) and test it out later today.  I'm suspecting an issue here though
