I have Popper running in non admin now, and it seems to work. I'm not sure why Nailbuster has this admin requirement in his FAQ/Troubleshooting guide.

Great!  Yeah, "run it in Admin mode" is one of those generic pieces of advice that people hand out, but it's really mostly outdated, and it tends to cause more problems than it solves.  There are probably still a few special situations where it's needed, but those are getting fewer all the time as the software improves, so the FAQs that say "Admin Mode Everywhere All The Time" really should be updated to be more nuanced.

I would have a few feature suggestions for Pinvol though:

- would it be possible to also control PuP Packs sound levels ? Sometimes (often) they are not balanced vs other sounds, and it's quite a pain to juggle around with multiple volume level.

- likewise, if it was possible to control SSF sound level within VPX through PinVol, that would be great. Right now I have to balance everything through the amplifier controls, which of course... require volume button access...

Otherwise, thumbs up for a very useful piece of SW

Regards

It is possible to control ssf sound level. I use motherboard sound card for back box and usb 7.1 card for ssf. Pinvol has a secondary audio you can set up.

I think it's a troubleshooting thing, not meant for use with installs in general. I don't think I have my install running in Admin at all. But it is important to avoid having anything else running in Admin, because then Popper (and other software) can't work correctly with the other pieces of software.

Al Louguer on the Facebook SSF group has modified Pinvol to precisely accomodate SSF volume level:

Pretty cool

My understanding is that using multiple sound cards can cause problems with SSF PuP pack (which are used in PinEvent FP tables, or by DOFLinx for PBFX3), unless I misunderstood.

But for VPX yes that's a good option.

MJR,

love this program in my vp cab.  Also have a real nice Mame cab and was wondering if possible to integrate MAME into PinVol?

thanks.
