File Name: JP's Spider-Man

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 14 Jul 2018

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 2007
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: No

Based on the table by Stern.
Graphics by me. Layout should as as close as Stern's table as possible, the same as the gameplay, although there are some changes in the objects, but only graphically changes.

Notes:
This is another table I used to test the beta VPX. I used the graphics I made for my Spiderman table for VP9.
I release this table mostly Because Carlos asked me to do so, and because it has been lying in my HD for too long now, but I still play it from time to time because it is just great fun :)
Please don't make mods of this table, Alessio has released some great versions of the Spiderman table at the italian site. Alessio's tables are great and 100% close to the real thing in terms of graphics and animations My table don't use animations.
This tables uses the Spiderman vault edition rom, get it at Stern's site and rename it to smanve_101.zip

These are my tables, sorted by date, all them playable with VPX 7 or newer:

After 18 years making tables, it is time to take a rest and let new authors do their thing.

I guess at last I'll play some more pinball :). But I'm sure I'll make some table updates from time to time :)

I'll update the script when I come back from my vacation at the end of the month :) At least it will load any b2s you may have :)

I can't get the rom to work? I downloaded the .BIN file and renamed it, put it in the vPinMAME rom folder. What am I missing?

The rom should be in a zip and into the rom folder.

Very nice update JP!

I like that you can change from the Spiderman Vault edition with all new comic animations back to the Spiderman movie version 2007 by simply running the appropriate ROM.

Const cGameName = "sman_261" 'Spiderman rom (Movie edition)
'Const cGameName = "smanve_101" 'Spiderman VE rom (Comic book)

One minor thing: The table has some more 'custom' handling of flipper switches, which avoids that the SAM fast flips can be used out of the box with VPM 3.1 beta.

What is the workaround there?

UPDATE:

1.2.2 Updated 31.07.2018
- updated the script to use controller.vbs and some small adjustments/updates to he code (hit sounds, fading flashers)

At least now the table will load any B2S you may have. I also added some DOF commands to the script.

The flipper code is very "normal" the solenoids simply call for the left and right flipper subs, nothing special there. There are some switches that are activated while pressing the flippers though. But I guess the fast flips for the sam tables should work, but I haven't tried that.

You should try fast flips/implement it into your tables, it really makes a difference!  :)

I guess it is time to try it :) But I use a 144Hz monitor, an i7 and a GTX 1070, so I don't see any flipper lag at all :)
