I've got one small question. One of my favourite table is the Road Girls Revisited. I don't really like country music but Alan Jackson's song is awesome. I've got one problem that I can't find who sings the Alan Jackson songs because these are not the originals. These are adaptation. (I'm talkin about the Whose cheatin' who etc.)

Make it simple! I don´t understand all that mysterious happenings about the FP and FP Future! What is the reason for all that FP trouble - just in time - and future?
Why is it possible??? that FP ends at a special date and all FP data is lost??? It´s a joke!?! The FP software includes a clock...countdown to the self destruction date???

I just noticed, that the FP homepage seems to be hacked...

More likely that Black is taking his own stand against censorship and the new mandatory internet filtering laws that the govt here in Australia are trying to push through without the blessing of the public. Other sites are painting their sites black to support the resistance.

By taking a side against censorship, he doesn't want the internet to be safer. He wants to have free access to known terrorist sites, known child porn sites, and other illegal activites. He should have a link on his page to a better solution, rather than simply - no, no censorship whatsoever, because if he understood the underlying foundation of what they are trying to do (which is plain to see they intend it to be beneficial for their people) he would support the concept, but be against their method. Just goes to show idiocy in motion.

btw - for me, I would push through legislation that would give the government or an enforcement authority more power to shut down sites, specifically over international borders. That way every citizen's internet would not need to be filtered - just when a site was reported, it could be taken offline, permanently, within 24 hours. With repeated reconstructions of said site, the site operators would be prosecuted or they could appeal. But it'd take care of these problems right quick. Kind of like Piratebay - if the RIAA was smart, they would USE the site to track down who was posting illegal torrents and use the site to prosecute them and bring them to justice like the honeypot system, but no, they are morons too and want the site shut down. Which will then take them 6 months to figure out if a new system is in place elsewhere, another 6 months to figure out how it works and who the main guys are, and another year or two to prosecute them - grossly ineffective. You can't shut sites down if they are simply 'filtered and blocked' from your location - it doesn't solve the problem - someone will get a workaround to get what they want. It has to be destroyed at the source and taken care of.

They censor what is on TV, they censor what is on radio, they're going to try to censor what is on the internet - trouble is it is too big, and there aren't enough people to oversee the entire thing, so it won't work. They have to come up with a different solution. - and I wish Joe SixPack imbicile could put together some reasonable argument in their popup advertising like this to clarify their views, rather than a simple "flat no to censorship - sign our petition".

Thats the same view that the government here in Australia takes "If you are against censorship then you are for child porn"... but its a view that is very incorrect and is exactly the scare tactic the government are using whenever someone decides to speak up against it. The overwhelming majority of Aussies that have been polled on the issue want to be able to decide for themselves what they see online.

The worry here is that if the government is given a mechanism by which they may filter/block certain sites then that facility will be easily abused by those in power.

Lets say someone creates a parody site for a politician, and said poli doesnt like the site... zap.... its gone. Lets say someone makes a site that promotes a view that is not inline with the governments.... zap... gone. Lets say a political party disagrees with gay marriage.... zap... that site's gone too.

Before too long you end up with a system not unlike China. I remember speaking to a woman there a few years ago and someone we got onto the topic of gay marriage ... she told me there were no homosexuals in China so it wasnt really an issue. Thats the kind of crap that happens when a government is given too much power with censorship.

People make a visible stand on their own websites to bring awareness to the issue, so it is discussed out in the open as is occuring right here and now.

To relate it to pinball.... how would people feel if the silver ball somehow became outlawed again as was the case earlier in the USA last century, and all of a sudden you were denied access to playing pinball or even viewing a pinball forum?

There is also a strange situation here in Australia now where we do not have access to an R rating for games. This has led to several games simply being denied sale because they are not suitable for children... ummm... Im not a child.

One man, a state attorney general in the state of South Australia is able to veto the gaming community's request to have an R rating.... so even though Im in another state altogether, its this one guy that is the deciding factor. In Australia, every state attorney general has to be in agreeance on the matter before it can come into being. A ridiculous situation.

Well said Gravy, couldn't agree more. As I understand it to make matters worse they won't even disclose banned sites and there is no appeal either so it does amount to state control of the internet which is a slippery slope.

So you would be ok with a foreign government having equal rights to do this in your own country? So lets say Iran wanted some US gay liberation site removed or the Taliban (if they were still in power) wanted iTunes shut down (because music is the devil's work) then that would be ok??? Or if Japan wanted an anti whaling site removed from an Aussie server. Or if Australia wanted a UK anti-uranium mining site switched off. Or if China wanted Google to be shutdown completely because they are now allowing uncensored search results in China, would that be cool?

Doesnt sound like a hugely ideal situation to me although I defend your right to have an opinion and speak about it openly .

I've got the feeling Noah will jump in here in a minute with a "no political commentary discussion please" soon, personally I'd like to be able to discuss a few things like this on here occasionally, perhaps in its own sub forum?? I think its what makes a forum more interesting when I perhaps dont want to talk about pinball all day and fancy a little intelligent and level headed debate about the world.

Not sure if this was a personal attack on them or a simple statement of fact... ROFL.

I apologise for this post noah, but it needs to be said to explain how this is relevant to the trhead and to us, for the benefit of those not here in australia.

In clarification of the post regarding FP and the censorship debate, an understanding of the context is needed to fully appreciate the implications for all of us here, and particularly the future of FP and the surrounding community.

PO has had a clearly placed protest regarding the cleanfeed for over a year.

The cleanfeed legislation is vague and ambiguous and open for abuse. It is also potentially identical to the system used in china in practice.

It relates to us because with the variety of themes in use in our tables, all our pinball sites are potentially vulnerable to censorship due to one morons extreme fascist views on copyrite, creative license and intelectual property, not to mention his completely imbecilic assertions regarding ANYBODY against him being a pedophile or terrorist as alluded to earlier. It is a dangerous system that WILL come to have an impact on our pinball community. This is why black is likely to take a stance against it. Cleanfeed has the potential to see all Aussies removed from this community, should the idiots controlling it follow their own policy to the letter. And yess, I have read the legislation, in its entirety, in all its revisions, and have personally contact our prime minister on several occasions to voice my concern - to no avail. The mans an idiot, and so are his croneys who told him this was a good idea.
