You need cabinet mode in Pinball FX2, otherwise it won't work correctly. You can request a code on Zen's website if you don't already have one.

Hi freezy...

Not sure if you saw my thread over on in the Cabinet pinDMD3 request forum... but I've been playing Cactus Canyon Continued and loving it... I just set up your tool and the screen grabber to bring the DMD on there over to my pinDMD3 and it is working pretty darn good... my question to you is whether it would be possible to get it over to pinDMD3 in colour or not. Any thoughts on that?

http://www.vpforums....showtopic=35134

Edit One: Looks like it does it already :) Sorry... using it now from the command line displays in colour... I was using the screen function from the app.exe and that was all orange dots... off to get this working :) This is awesome!

Edit Two: Well sun of a gun if this doesn't work perfectly! These are my test settings when running this on a single screen setup while I work on my cabinet.

In my user_settings.yaml I've got the following settings:

Color Display Pixel Size: 4, Color Display X Offset: 25, Color Display Y Offset: 25,

Then my command line for dmdext is:

dmdext mirror --source screen -p 25 25 512 128 --no-virtual

Any chance or reading this from memory so I can hide the P-ROC DMD freezy?

Well since P-PROC is open source it would be easier to add support directly, either through a compiled COM DLL or a native Python implementation. I might have a look at it, haven't done much Python though.

Cool... this looks so good on the pinDMD3... wish there were more fully colourized games to play... like BOP 2.0 :)

OK, I'm obviously not too bright. In my cab I have Visual Pinball 9.21, Visual Pinball X, Future Pinball, and PinballFX2, all running with PinballX with a 40" playfield, a 26" Backglass, and a plasma DMD using PinDMD2. Through tedious setup, re-setup, trial and error, swears and prayers most everything is working as it should....except the PinballFX2 DMD. I am running a clean install of version 1.2.4 and I called myself following Freezy's instructions. The test version comes up on the DMD perfectly. If I remove the no virtual call, the virtual DMD picks up on the PinballFX2 DMD, but my plasma does not. I have the size scaled as directed, position set to 0,0. I just know I am missing something relatively simple here but I can't figure it. I am prepared to be embarrassed by the solution but help!

This is fantastic. Works so well and easy to set up. My only issue is killing dmdext when exiting pinballfx back to pinballx. Do people have an ahk for this? The pre launch is fine , it's only the exit I have problem with

@mllkat: so dmdext test renders ok on dmd and screen but pbfx2 renders on screen only? By screen I mean the virtual dmd.

@Jodannar: are you running the latest PinballX version? Tom changed some stuff recently about DMD timing.

@freezy Exactly, test shows on screen and DMD, but PinballFX2 renders on the screen(virtual DMD) but not the actual DMD.

This is weird. Usually problems are either from the input side (capturing problems), or the output side (sending data to the DMD). In your case, both seem to work, but not together, which doesn't make any sense.

Can you please reconfirm with the following steps?

  1. Launch Pinball FX2 and start a game
  2. Switch to the command line (Win+R, "cmd", Enter)
  3. Run "dmdext test" and make sure the test image occurs on both the virtual and the real DMD
  4. Run "dmdext mirror -s pinballfx2"

Describe what happens. Only seeing the image on the virtual DMD would be very weird if you saw the test image on both in step 3.

Well I did what you requested and the results were the same. Test shows on Virtual DMD and plasma DMD but the pinballfx2 DMD shows on the virtual but not the plasma. Upon reading through your instructions again I realized that maybe where I had the dmdext exe was the problem. I had originally had put it into its own folder on the C: drive. So as a lark, I just put the file in the C: drive and low and behold, it appeared on the DMD just as it was suppose to. I knew it was something stupid on my end. One misplaced file caused me hours of consternation. My bad! Great program my friend. It works great, it's the user who had issues.

To be honest I'm pretty clueless what was going on. Could you elaborate where you had dmdext.exe and which folders you have in your PATH variable ("echo %PATH%" on command line)? Also, any other files you had in the current working dir or/and in the folder where you placed dmdext.exe, like DLLs?

Yes I'm running the latest pinballx version. Works fine coming back for vp, but on closing pinballfx, pinballx animation doesn't load. I believe pinballx tries to grab control too quickly before dmdext releases. I'll play more with it.

@Freezy I'll try to explain. The dmdext.exe file was in a folder "C:\DMDEXT-v1.2.4\dmdext.exe." The exe. and the NLog.config are the only files in the folder. When I would run it from this folder it would allow me to run the test and it would show on the virtual and on the DMD. When I would run the dmdext mirror -s pinballfx2 it would show the pinballfx2 DMD on the virtual but not the regular DMD. When I moved the dmdext.exe and the other file to just the C: drive without being in a folder it behaves as it should and shows the DMD on the virtual and on the DMD...if that makes any sense.
