So, do I still need the rom file of a pinball table to load it, or not?

It was the MS Visual C++ runtime. Damn. I could swear I had that on there already. Stupid mistake.

I have a GTX560TI graphics card for my playfield and a GT430 for my backglass. What is the recommended hardware? This is unplayable slow right now. (which I sort of expected it to be). I have a i5 running WinXP. 4GB ram I think.

welcome to 2010. Dump windows xp and pull out the 430. Modern os and only 1 video card

I always ran XP because VP ran better on that OS. That was the standard for pincabs to run. Windows 7 had all sorts of issues with VP and cabs. Is Win7 now better than XP in cabs? I'll admit I have not looked into changing it in some probably a year. I ran XP for a reason though, not just because I wish it was 10 years ago. lol  ;-)

And I had the 2nd video card for the 3rd DMD screen.

Yes

I was going to give it a go, but then Avast blocked the download and told me it carried viruses! Is this true?!

No, no viruses, it's a false positive. To make a url file exception, right click the Avast icon, go to 'Open Avast user interface', go to 'Settings', under 'General' scroll down to 'Exclusions', under 'Urls' put http://www.unit3dpin...inball Beta.rar  (Right click this link & 'Copy Link Location', paste into 'Urls') then click 'Add' then 'ok'. To make a file exclusion right click the Avast icon in the Taskbar, go to 'Open Avast user interface' go to 'Settings', then under 'General' scroll down to 'Exclusions', then under 'File Paths' click 'Browse', then browse to your 'Unit3D Pinball Beta' folder, tick to select it, then click 'ok'. The aforementioned guide is so you can use the Extractor.exe when you have it installed on your pc when using Avast (otherwise Avast deletes it). I don't think the Extractor.exe is really necessary if you're just using Unit3D to play Unit3D tables.

Hm. Strange that it would come up as a false positive.

Anyway, yeah, it works decently! I did have to turn the bloom effect off to get an optimal framerate, but nevertheless it works. Only problem: Indiana Jones keeps making this ridiculous rattling noises as I play! I'm looking at the problem.

Glad you got it running, FrankT. Strange about the rattling noises in IJPA...

Rattling sound is the "ball on plastic" sounds?

I am trying to set it all up now for the cab. I'm hoping to be able to run both screens with a decent framerate.

Let us know what your setup is like... I'm trying to get an idea of what sort of upgrade I may need to run this at a reasonable frame rate.

I can tell you this: Unless I've got something configured wrong, you'll need more than a core i5 and a gtx750ti for backglass and playfield on separate monitors.

Well that is discouraging. That is a lot of beef for a pc locked away in a pinball cab. Going to have to think about this one a while.

Did you unchecked, under Minimal Launcher, the "Full Editor" option?

There are lots of configurations the users shared. This is the price for full 3D simulation, with a lot of graphical effects YOU CAN disable...

Thanks for your suggestions, Bilbox. I will experiment with some settings to see if I can get a solid frame rate with backglass and playfield on separate monitors. If you're confident it can be done on my system, then so am I.

Weel it's "low" configuration, but you can manage to play some games, disabling things like "pixels lights", etc...

A post made by other users, (but in french):

Good luck

PS: I do devs on a i7 and GTX 680...

IMHO, i think you guys have developed something great here with your Beta release of Unit3D Pinball, there's an astonishing amount of work that has gone into it and you have used Unity3d to its full potential. Fantastic, well done & looking forward to all your further developments & releases and hope it brings you all the success you guys deserve. Definitely worth the " WaitWare ". Cheers :otvclap:

Just a question, Bilbox: is Unit3d Pinball locked to 60fps or with a 120/144hz screen I'll benefit from more frames? Thanks.

It depends on the table and your hardwareconfiguration. If you disable the "vsync" option, you will not be locked anymore to your screen refresh rate (60fps, most of the time).

Now you may have extra FPS but with some glitches. This is the same for any game...
