As Icemen5000 said earlier, the hardest thing for rectreating an acurate 'Active Backglass' is to know the exact position of the bulbs and flashers, which, most of the time, are not well documented in the manuals.

What would be a tremendous help though is if table-owners could do a vid of the 'settings' part of the machine showing each activity of the Backglass linked with an action (like the one Studmuff fantastically did from his IJ Table).

So every Pinball owner out there: pls. provide us with above mentioned examples of Backglass vids to enable us to create as acurate as possible Emulated Backglasses for us all to benefit from!

Please give us some response, which is important to continue and expand this FanTasTic UltraVPServer feature in VP!

Cheers,
FD.

For those that can't get this to work. I finally (with the help of Edward) got it working! Thank You!

Make sure your folder structure is correct.
Make sure your xml, tablename, uvp name, backglass name are identical INCLUDING Capitalization.
Make sure UltraVPServer_0.6.3.exe is in your hyperpin folder. Run it by itself and then close it. Important!!!
Make sure your table scripts have been modified with:

Set Controller = CreateObject("UltraVP.BackglassServ")

Folder structure MUST be
<Drive Letter>:\Hyperpin\UltraVP\<Tablename.uvp>
<Driveletter>:\Hyperpin\ UltraVPServer_0.6.3.exe

Woohoo! Bring on the backglasses!

Did you fix the Indiana Jones one? The right side demon and indy are backwards, and have the wrong numbers.

destruk, I could be wrong but I've checked against Studmuff's (brilliant!) vid and the right side demon should be 38 and Indy should be 26 which is how it was already .. what do you mean with 'backwards'?

Thanks,

Cheers,

First of all, VPM doesn't have a flasher with a number of 38 - it has 52. So 38 never activates, 52 does.
His excellent video is wrong. It is common for some secondhand games to have wires in the wrong places. There are a few other youtube videos showing the backglass flashers in attract mode firing. All we can figure is that someone connected the wires for the two right solenoids to the wrong places on his machine at some point. I sent you a PM about this a month or two ago. A simple run through the selftest would have shown that it never goes on, so either you didn't check, or you're running through these too fast.

Let's say it's combination of the two .. + the knowledge you have as a talented 'Table Author' I don't have as a simple 'Backglass Enthusiatic' but I'm learning though.

I indeed never do a 'self-test' after positioning the bulps & flashers, I always 'check' the activity afterwards by playing the Table itself but than again you might not 'hit' all the right spots during that game, so yes, a good suggestion.
I will change the '38' into a '52' .. it's almost impossible for me to know his wiring is incorrect (taking into account I didn't execute the 'selftest') so thanks for the remark and helpfull suggestion here ..

if you can't trust the manual + vid taken from a real life Pinball machine what can you trust upon? wink.gif

Cheers,
FD.

I didn't realize either until destruk told me. I really don't look at the backglass very often during gameplay. The DMD usually but not the backglass. I haven't looked into it yet either. It's the next game on my list to go over. The path of adventures isn't working great so I have to fiddle aroung with that. I will probably shout a video of Medusa next since it's easy to access right now. The game has all 555 bulbs. Would it be easier if I removed the backglass on the video first to show exactly where the bulbs are and then place the backglass back on the game and shoot the rest. Or should I just leave the backglass on the entire time. The self-test on Medusa and most early 80s games just flick the lamps on and off. I was thinking of shooting a video during game play as well but might be too hard to get the playfield and backglass in the same shoot. I'll have to fool around with the tripod and see what I can do.
DE Star Wars has a great BackGlass light show so I will likely do that next (will have to move Spidey) or I might do Slugfest just b/c it will probably be gone by the end of the year.

If it's not too much trouble, especially for UltraVP Server, the 555 bulb locations behind the glass would be excellent, for just a still frame 'overlay' for locations. That way it can match up fairly exact. smile.gif If the data is available it will be used eventually.

They're there!

Alien Star - done by Icemen5000
The Getaway - done by Iceman5000
Centaur - done by StrangeLeo
Spectrum - done by StrangeLeo
Indiana Jones - done by Iceman5000
IJ is close to 100% The 4 outer flashers may be slightly out of position as there wasn't a clear picture of the Backbox without the backglass, but it's close. Let's call it 99%. wink.gif

New releases of UVP 'Active Backglasses uploaded on FD's 'Backglass Paradise':

'Space Invaders' - recreated by Iceman5000. Awesome!
Very nice Piece Of Art you've re-created!

Also, the first Zaccaria UVP 'Active Backglass' has been added!

'Zankor' recreated by myself with the help of a superb example of where the flashers/bulps are positioned provided by luvthatapex! (see attached pics. 'Process Of Recreation Zankor').
Pic. 1 + Pic. 2 = Pic. 3. Actually according the uploaded pics. it should be '1 + 3 = 2'! wink.gif

Also the 'Static' version of Zankor has been uploaded.
Thanks again luvthatapex!

And again Iceman5000 .. a superb job done! smile.gif
Enjoy!

Cheers,
FD.

I've added a lot of 'Static' Backglassess (updates/new ones) from various Manufacturers (too many to mention them all! wink.gif )

We're approaching 250 'Static one's, around 30 'Active' one's and around 40 'Active Backglasses' based on the UltraVPServer method! yahoo.gif

Thanks to StrangeLeo, TAB, Unclewilly and a MANY others for being kind in providing materials and/or the complete image/backglass.

Enjoy your weekend! wink.gif

Lethal Weapon 3 and an updated Guns And Roses with fully functional GI in the Backglass!!'

Enjoy!
