On my VirtuaPin, i'm trying to play the Taxi table, and all i'm getting is the new B2S backglass (which works fine with the jackpot being displayed), and table playing, but no 3rd screen ROM (scores) ?
In the script, i am trying to show the dmd too (hidden=0)

Is there a setting i need to change?

The scores are not on the 3rd screen, they are embedded in the backglass with this nice Dream7 LEDs. Have you set you backglass to 32bit and registered the B2S-server with the registration app? Like UVP you have to change the table script in the CreateObject Line: Set Controller=CreateObject("B2S.Server") ...

It worked on my cab without any problems!

yeah..i made a dumb mistake. I got it working now...thanks man :) (I had forgotten to edit my B2S editor with all the values)

BTW...I LOVE what you've done with this Backglass! Simply amazing.
Unfortunetly, There is no way i can play it. On my Virtuapin, it stutters like CRAZY for me :(
The ONLY way it doesn't stutter is if i put all the "skip" values to the highest setting, but then the backglass and rom look like crap.
It looks like my processor just can't handle all the demand, at least not at this point.
But beautiful job on it, and even the 3rd screen, with the joyride in it..pretty neat.

Cosmic Gunfight and Sorcerer look great and work fine, no slow down or stutter that I notice. Taxi looks awesome, but unfortunately on my system it is virtually unplayable! Ball animation jumps from just a little bit to nearly the length of the table. Sound stutters at times bad. Table suffers from slow downs and extreme stutter. The only way to fix was to go into the B2S menu and turn everything off. I have not had this issue with any past UVP or B2S backglasses.

Hello Shadow, have you checked the color depth of your backglass monitor at the windows settings? Please do this, it's pretty important to set the color depth or your backglass monitor to 32bit.

Hello Aaron, same question here: Have you checked the color depth of your backglass monitor at the windows settings? Please do this, it's pretty important to set the color depth or your backglass monitor to 32bit.

I will do some research to this color depth thing. I'm confident there is a way to check the color depth of the backglass monitor and to convert the backglass images to another type of BitsPerPixel.

Herweh .. installed the three and they are running fine .. only:

Running directly from VP (No HP) they always crash the first time I start them up ('VP 9.1.3 is closing down').
Start them up for a 2nd time they run just fine.
This is probably also the reason they don't run from out of the HyperPin FrontEnd?

Great job on the displays!
Great animation on Taxi (is this in line with the 'real BG animation'?).

Performance (tweakin' did make some difference) issues noticable on Sorcerer (multiball release) and on Taxi (no stutter).

How do you get the score display on screen 3 and remove the Grill?

Great way to include 'settings' directly to adjust during gameplay! May be you could incorporate an option to change BG Image in there as well?

As said before, I'm curious to know and try the designer software myself to increase the list of more B2S releases in future. ;)

Great job done! :)

Cheers,
FD.

Yeah, I double checked just to make sure, I always set everything for 32bit. Just remember my system is an older one. I have to set max textures to 1024 for several of the tables, so it may just be the older PC's having problems.
I'll keep tinkering with it and let you know if I find anything that helps.

Found a bug in the settings' saving method. Normally you are able to save your backglass settings for each table by clicking the "Save settings" button. Problem right now is, these saved settings will not be restored during the next start. I'll fix this bug in the next version in a few hours with the next backglass previews.

Thanks a lot, Herweh.

I know I should not ask this, but I can't help myself. Any time frame for a release or Beta for the general public. Great job, I see this a such a great addition to the VP community, Thanks!

Sorry, I have to say I haven't done any tests with VP913. Have to do this, I know. Actually I have no problems running the backglass tables with VP912 on my cab (running XP) or on my test or development systems (running Win7). Not even any problems running on a notebook with Win8. Do you get any error message?

Great job on the displays!
Great animation on Taxi (is this in line with the 'real BG animation'?).

Thanks a lot. This is no real animation. Haven't found good videos on youtube and still I need a lot experience to read the manuals.

Performance (tweakin' did make some difference) issues noticable on Sorcerer (multiball release) and on Taxi (no stutter).

Cool.

How do you get the score display on screen 3 and remove the Grill?

You have to use "B2S_SetUp.exe" and change the values for "LED Display X Offset" and/or "LED Display Y Offset". Set both values to "0" to display the backglass with grill. Set one or both values to a value unequal "0" and the grill is hidden.

Great way to include 'settings' directly to adjust during gameplay! May be you could incorporate an option to change BG Image in there as well?

Well, this is something I have to think about. I know this is pretty important for you. Right now all the illumination is prepared by the designer while creating the directb2s file. So the background image and the lights have to match. The only way is to put the illu generation code into the server and create the illumination at backglass startup.

As said before, I'm curious to know and try the designer software myself to increase the list of more B2S releases in future. ;)

Need a few days to round up the designer and of course write a first manual. I have focused the server a lot but now it's time to refocus the designer and start the designer's beta.

Great job done! :)

Thanks a lot once again. :)

Are you using the old server of the very first Sorcerer preview? Please download the whole package once again and overwrite all files in your VP tables folder with these newer files. Then reregister the server with the register app.

Thanks that was it. I got confused because I was when I ran my sorcerer it said that was was not running the latest B2s.Server, so I downloaded the Sorcerer B2s file and overwrote the "newer" version. My problem came from running Sorcerer_URNF_VP91x_v1.1.0.1_JF_BMPR_MOD_FS.vpt and forgetting to rename your new b2s sorcerer file to the BMPR one. Sorry my bad. All is good again and in awe of how great this looks. Forgot to show faralos this yesterday.

Just tested Taxi and it works great. Is there anyway to disable the 3 monitor DMD scoring and just let the default pinmame screen show? I ask because right now I'm only using a 2 monitor setup in my cabinet with the DMD in the directions card spot of the tables. I did this to prepare for a real LedDMD I purchased. So in the meant time I just have scores and what not on the play field. Can this be done?

Maybe that could be an option in the b2s.server settings menu (pressing 's')? Something along the lines of "DMD Type" category which lets you choose choose whether you have an led dmd, lcd dmd, or only using 2 screens via a check box. Thanks.

Just an FYI: I was having problems getting the dll to register. Both the executable to register it as well as the command line was failing. What I ended up doing was changing the dll properties. On my Win7 32bit system, under general, there was a security setting that said "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer". There was an option to unblock the security. Once I did this, the dll registered fine and the B2S system now works.

Also, GREAT job! The new backglasses look and work excellent. I'd love to see the tool in action.

Yes! This is actually something I mentioned to Russ, he would have been happy to do something like this with the UVP server but didn't have access to the code. Would definitely be great as more and more people are using real DMDs to have some options for how to treat them on these tables.

Hello again,

here are the next backglasses. I have added "Elvis" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". The three backglasses from yesterday are included too.

Here we go: http://www.mediafire...hqkg9nl6a7z54dq

Once again please
  • Unzip all files into your VP tables folder and overwrite already existing files with this new ones
  • Start the EXE and the server dll should be registered automatically (with Win7 start the exe as administrator). There should be NO NEED to register once again when you have done this with the previous version
  • If you haven't downloaded the matching tables from VPForums then please do this
  • Well-known from UVP you have to change one line in the script code. Change the CreateObject line in the table script to "Set Controller=CreateObject("B2S.Server")".
There were a few problems which server version to use. Right now please only use the one from this newest download package. For this previews I will zip the download packages that way everything necessary is included. In the package you get the whole bundle: the B2S server dll, the register app, the three backglasses from yesterday and the two new backglasses. Please do not try to use an older version of the server dll.

Well, a few words to the new backglasses:
  • ELVIS: "open6l" asked me to do this backglass to solve the sound problem of the UVP backglass. And he gave me a lot good info how to assign the lamps. So this is not like the real machine but I love it.
  • CLOSE ENCOUNTERS: This is a pretty accurate backglass. The color of the LEDs is pretty well matching, the text infos are at the places they have to be. I've added two simple, discreet animations at the saucer, one in "attract mode", the other one during gameplay.
Pretty important when you're having some stutter:
  • Check the color depth of the backglass monitor. It should be 32bit.
  • Tweak with the "Skip ... frames". Maybe start with Lamps 3, Solenoids 10 and LED 2. I haven't tested all combinations so we need some testing here.
  • Tweak with the LED type. Try to use the "Simple LEDs".
  • Save your tweak settings. I have fixed a bug and now the server is able to save the settings for each table. Just don't forget to press the "Save settings" button!!!
Have fun, Herweh.

Thanks! Now the save button works fine. I tweaked the tables with the corresponding back glass and vp saves all parameters correctly.

I also installed the new Elvis b2s file and it looks great. Now it is double fun to play!

Nice job.
