ok, backglass is done!

and we have a final name for the game:
SCARFACE - Balls and Power

Nice backglass.

I'm not nitpicking, but the shadow on Scarface is on left side. Shadow on letters is on right side.

technically the light source is behind them both i.e the sunset on the bottom right corner so the shadow should be infront tongue.gif

looking sweet guys, i bet there has been some screaming over skype the last 2 weeks getting the table this far biggrin.gif

Rule 1 keep the ball from draining.
Rule 2 refer to rule 1.

EDIT: We have a rule set on paper (consists of 11 main objectives and 5 full time objectives, center lights and the bottom lights are a clue), nothing included in the table yet, so they may change up a bit as we implement them.

Other then the DMD graphics, I think we're done with the eye candy. Still a long way to go with the rest of it.

Here is the latest screenshot.

The DMD performance is awesome! Even at full out speed, it causes no lag to the table even with all the lights going nuts! dblthumb.gif

And that is tested on my crap rig at home with AMD Atholon 64 Processor 3200+ and just 756MB RAM and an old GeForce 7600 GS with 256MB video ram. If it'll run here it'll run anywhere!

At last some decent original tables coming from VP! I was getting tired of the endless recreations and updates of recreations and then more recreations......now something interesting comes along! Great artwork and a brilliant theme. Tell me, will the 'Chainsawing the Guy in the Bathtub' feature be in the game!

Did you write your own dmd system for this.
How did you do it? is it reels or something else.
Ive.got an original comming up and am considering a dmd rather than alpha numeric.

Looks awesome btw

It's a DMD system of my own design. It's done with balls. There are three huge balls that make up three layers of the DMD. One is the matrix layer, one is the animation layer, and the last is a transition layer. Then there are up to 12 more smaller balls that make up a 12 character text line. It makes them as needed. If you are displaying 5 characters then it only makes 5 balls it it self centers them on the DMD.

This system works out great as I never kick the balls, I just move them with x, y, and z. Then I change images on them through script. Super fast and no limit on images like in a reel. By the way, the scarface doll on the table is also done with balls, so to animate his head, all I do is change the image on the ball, no hassle of dealing with multiple dropwalls or reels.

I'll make a demo table of the DMD after this table comes out. I get to use it first. tongue3.gif

Down side is, you can't move it to a second monitor for FS. So something else will have to be used for the DMD on the FS version. Possibly B2S.

I guess a B2S backglass could mimic your "ball" solution with XNA sprites.
