***Update*** I feel stupid. By some sort of cosmic coincidence (or bad karma, not sure which) my plunger separated from the linear potentiometer. What are the odds?! At the same time as the upgrade no less. Oh well, nothing a good ol' fashion zip tie could not solve.

This might have been covered earlier in this thread, but it's now 86 pages long :)

I just updated to VPX 10.8 (1873) release candidate 1. Now all of a sudden on any table with a standard plunger is moving erratically (the plunger). I do have both a plunger button as well as an analog plunger using a pinone mini board. Everything worked perfectly when I was running 10.8 beta (1347). I needed to upgrade to get the tweak menu (f12). The plunger was previously calibrated (worked with beta 1347). Recalibrate again? Any thoughts on what is happening?

Thanks!

Hi all,

When I tried to unzip the latest 10.8.0 release candidate 1 file, my Bitdefender antivirus detected as infected file following below:

zip file: VPinballX_GL-10.8.0-1873-bdd0673-Release-win-x64.zip

exe file: VPinballX_GL64.exe

virus found: Gen:Variant.Lazy.476837

It might be a false positive but who knows. Did you guys see this kind of behaviour or got this event on your antivirus software?

Thanks a lot and have a nice weekend!

Hey Alexandre... I downloaded that build when it came out and had no problems.  If you are getting it directly from the VPX github source I'm sure there is no need to worry about these.

I had this same BitDefender issue, and also assumed it was a false positive. Hard to know for certain.

Easy to know

the builds in github were built there, using the source code that is there.

The thing in error is your bitdefender app

I'm using only MSDefender on Win11 and from time to time scan Antimalwarebytes and have absolutely no problems with viruses etc.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I have been testing with open-gl, but most of the time when the table is started, the table wont appear on the screen. However if I alt-tab back over to it, it usually will then appear just fine. Is this a bug or is there a setting I need to tweak. BTW, I dont do any VR.

Never seen this on DX. Maybe I should just return to that since I have net yet realized any improvement.

Are you launching through a front end?

could be due to the windows launch args being for vpinballX.exe ?

try renameing VpinballX.exe (if you have it) to VpinballX_32.exe
then rename your VpinballX_GL.exe that you are using to VpinballX.exe

then go and just double click a table file
See if any difference?

No harm done if there is no change.

Off topic,

lately what you say above often happens to me too,

I don't know if it's the fault of the table I'm working on,

but it seems to me it started when I updated with the latest beta of VPinMame.

Yesterday i upgraded VPX to 10.8.1 64 bit, all went well and smooth, did this to play on newest tables from VpinWorkshop. I noticed slight performance improvements and tables loading faster.

I was led to believe only 10.8 Master build files were stable for now ?

Yes, the Master build is the stable one. 10.8.1 is experimental, so the changes may or may not work.

Did not help. I still have to routinely alt-tab to get the playfield to show up. Not a problem on Dx. Any other ideas?

There is an issue with windows for some people with the OpenGL 10.8, where it hides the dmd behind the playfield irrespective if you do full-screen exclusive or windowed mode. The workaround for that, is to reduce your resolution by one pixel in the VPX settings, which tricks it into windowed moded e.g. 1079 rather than 1080.
