Sth i noticed in the editor (rev 129): imported a new ball image to a table via image manager, but it doesnt show up in the dropdown list of visuals of table properties. There seems to be no update (as it was in 10.6). I had to close/save the table and reload, then it showed up.

Don't know if known issue. Editor > BackglassView > Create Decal > Set size = width or height

The decal element doesn't update in the editor. You have to start a game, quit, then select the decal again for Editor UI to update.

--------------------------

I'm getting it with quite a few objects. Even flippers I'm unable to set the physics. I think it's because working from a table that was built around 2018 or so.

Perhaps the solution is to copy over into a new table.

----------------------

Flippers are weird anyway....

New table > Select both flippers > set a physics value > won't update. Single selection is fine.

I've only spotted one table so far (Goldeneye) where I see Fraps dropping from 60 to 50 fps when I press F11. And remember 10.7 is doing this for me even without Fraps running at all. I'm pretty sure at a true 50 fps I'd notice the table running crappy. But when I leave F11 back to table it plays lovely (as it's back to 60 fps)

For reference, without vsync I'm seeing 85-90 fps with Fraps, then when I press F11 sometimes the flippers, slingshots bumpers, targets... everything disappears (including ball) but the table still "plays". (This maybe a feature supposed to be there for technical reasons. If so my bad). But when this happens VPX does show the same figure as Fraps. It's all very strange, but I'm happy to just use Fraps for now to get fps figures.

Seems like that table is impacted exactly that much from the debug output so that the vsync makes it drop to 30fps from time to time, so overall you end up with these 50-60fps.

Given the measurement from wiesshund, it also seems that the speed of our debug output sucks pretty majorly.  ;)

I'll investigate this a bit.

As for 10.6 vs 10.7 speed: Some things improved perf wise, some decreased (to get better quality though! Like FXAA, Bloom, etc), so mileage varies from table to table and which render settings you use. See the changelog.txt for some explanations what could impact performance.

With VP10.6, when you selected an object and then right clicked on it, you could know on which layer it was

layer.jpg

Is there another way with VP10.7 to get this information ?

But perhaps you already replied to this question (just tell me which "#" it is)

When You have something selected on the bottom edge of the window there is information about the layer it is on.

Dear Development Team please find attached a bug report & a wish list,

1. Empty EmReels will crash Visual Pinball when running multiple images through it.

You cannot run multiple images through the Emreel without having an image attached in the properties Image box first.

2. No need to add an image to the Flasher prior to running multiple images through it. Empty Flashers will not crash Visual Pinball

Wish List

1. A tailored code written for the removal of undeleted VPTemp ttf fonts files due to crashes, which would then delete the file prior to writing the new VPTemp ttf font file/s.

2. Drop Target code tailored so that the Drop Target Z scale is = to the drop distance when the Target Z scale is greater that 32

3. Flashers code upgrade so that the flasher will paste into the mouse pointer position.

Thankyou Devs for the wonderful work you have done since the beginning, it is most appreciated.

:)  :)  :)

Good luck if someone finds that trick

I can not get windows system to release hold of them

Well i can, but then you wind up having to reboot windows anyways due to the processes i killed.

It's like the font gets orphaned and the OS sends it to some 16th century British orphanage where you can never leave.

You'd think MS would have had a simple way to just tell the OS hi, dont need this font anymore, you can let go now

Flashers code upgrade so that the flasher will paste into the mouse pointer position.

They do that now, unless i am misunderstanding?

i can copy a flasher, and then paste at mouse cursor at will, or do you mean something else?

My computer must be drunk, the flasher landed on the moon once & that is quite a distance!

When I log out of windows it normally releases the undeleted fonts, which is quite good as It forces you to close everything down, so that you can walk away from the screen & take a break!

I dont think my PC can reach the moon, not enough CPU

Logging out is a pain in the butt for people with a cab though
Sad thing is, that is even Microsoft's solution for that kind of issue

Microsoft's massive financial windfall will not help either & bug repair progress will probably slow down as a result. Not what one would expect. Hopefully they will prove us all wrong.

Hi All, Recently upgraded to 10.7 and even though it works it crashes every time I close a game.  The other issue is my Attack from Mars DMD is totally green.  I go into the setting with F1 and change the settings from all green to multi colors and they keep changing back to all green once I exit.  I then backed out of 10.7 back to 10.6 final and the crashing is gone but the dmd is still all green.  Any advice?  I have like 240 games the only one I know of is the attack from Mars as as issue, all the others seem fine.  A delete and re-install of that game did not fix it.  Any thoughts of help would be appreciated.

VPX 10.7 rev 136 a4822e3 64bit

I know 64bit is not a thing being test for release or anything now, but i noticed this and figured it bears mention if nothing else

table sound when playing is cut approx 70% as opposed to bringing up the pause menu

you can reproduce it easily, just make a new empty table, and just have it play any of the included sounds on a repeat, tie it to the plunger or something

not hit Q or Esc to bring up the pause menu

table starts and you notice audio very low

the volume goes to normal levels
pick to resume, volume goes back down about 70%

bring up the menu again, volume pops back up

kind of the exact opposite of what you would expect the pause menu to do

32bit version of same build does not do this

Not an important thing to fix now as it is the 64bit build, but would not want this to see it's way into the 32bit build

Went back to VPinballX-10.7.0-133-67fe160-win-x64 build, same thing
Do not recall seeing it earlier though.

If you could reverse that, it would be a nice feature for pausing a table to answer the phone or something

10.7 Bug Report for Table Designers & Devs,

When grouped elements together is checked the names in the collection manager would normally remain unchanged, however the name in the property editor will be changed. Its is identified with a new collection name. One some occasion the following can occur :

Although the bug is difficult to reproduce. This bug seemed to only affect Targets that were checked as grouped elements together in the collections manager.

The collection manager chooses one Target from the collection & renames it with the collection name. The Table code fails to identify the Target as a result.

I now uncheck when I have finished using the grouped elements together during table design periods.

All Table designers need to watch out for this bug. You will notice the bug when your code fails to respond. The name can only be changed manually after unchecking grouped elements together.

The bug was not identified in 10.6.

Something about my sound was really bugging me... and now I just seen what's happening. (Dunno if this is a bug or not though).

I currently keep two Vpinball.exe files in my install... latest 10.6 and the latest 10.7.  I rename one of them if I need to go to the other. Generally, if I tweak a table I always do it in 10.6 because if I save it in 10.7 then it won't load properly in 10.6.

But I noticed that whenever I switch between the .exes my sound setting alters each time. I have 10.6 set as 7.1 surround. But it always defaults to 2.1 if I ever use 10.7 exe. Similarly I like to have 10.7 set to enhanced 7.1. But if I use 10.6 at all that switches to standard 10.7. I don't have to load any tables, just opening the other exe will do it.

Like I say, you might consider my switching files like this to be non-standard use, but I was wondering why 10.6 kept sending flipper sounds to back glass. :P

Hi there - I am having issues with the table global physics not changing/saving (reported already in post 751). Has this issue been fixed already? I am using rev 4406

Am I able to add a script line to override these settings temporarily? The slope is stuck at 8, I would like to change the min and max table slope.

10.7 has dodgy selection bugs and more, playing 10.7 is fine, just editor issues, I rolled back to 10.6 last week.
