Some people asked me if the table had received any updates, so here's 20 minutes of gameplay.

I cheated in the third video to show more table features... :D

Such a pity we won't see this version released. It looks stunning.

I spent a bit of time with this table at one point. I was underwhelmed. I trust that you've brought this further than Zidware ever did.

If you're uncomfortable releasing it with the models and art you've used, you could replace them with filler and let the community do the rest. I've got a lot of pictures of this machine around somewhere, I'm sure we could put something together quickly.

As much as we'd all love to play this, I'm happy to know this title's gameplay has now been preserved and this table is (hopefully) now not limited to only a few standing copies in the world.  THIS is why we VPX.  THIS is why the hobby is wonderful.

I guess the table could be built without using any of the resources from freezy. EBisLit has redrawn all the images needed, and the table could be built using simple VPX objects and a very simple DMD for the scoring. Maybe it won't look as pretty, but it will be good enough until freezy finish his version using VPE.

Hi JP - first off, its an honor to get a mention from a legend in the community, secondly, anyone is more than welcome to use the assets that are shared on my site. That includes playfield photostitches that took a decent amount of time to hunt down and piece together as well as raw files of plastics, decals and stickers.

That said.. I have thankfully been a fly on the wall watching the developments in the VPW group's version since day 1 of the Magic Girl project and freezy putting together the entire playfield redraw was like watching Michelangelo at work (not to mention his 3d ramp builds, cleaning & reducing 3d objects, plastics work, etc).. eMBee's efforts and contributions (from meeting up with owners of the machine and dumping data / hires photos / scans where possible) were also undeniably well beyond the average level of effort anyone might put into the recreation of a table. These are just two of MANY that contributed to getting the VPW table as far along as it was prior to the work in progress /assets being taken and posted on vpforums as if it were drik3333's own work.

I try not to play sides, as there's enough politics in everything else that we really don't need it in vpin, but drik was a member in the VPW group prior to so obviously and blatantly ripping off the group of their work really badly. In fact, when he was called out, he gave what seemed like a sincere apology and left the group.. but he continues to post teaser images of the work and what seems like an attempt to rally the VPin masses as if he's the victim somehow and the VPW group prevented him from finishing his own project. I have no doubt drik did plenty of work (dozens of hours or more, i'm sure!) on his own version of the game, but some, possibly delusional, part of him might also believe he's entitled to the INCREDIBLE work that others did (work that really is straight up artistry.. stuff I am 100% sure I would never be able to do regardless of the hours I put in).

I'm proud of the stuff I put together and have over 100 hours put into all the photostitches I share on my site, but the efforts and results that the VPW group were putting together on their version of Magic Girl looked absolutely stunning and beyond compare. To all the people who get mad and say "Well.. they don't OWN the game, so drik3333 should share it with the community", look what happens when people do that... Ever since drik's ripoff version got teased, the enthusiasm and energy on the VPW project got completely sucked dry. Its been almost 16 months since major progress and the only updates have been referencing drik and how its such a shame that he is weirdly stealing thunder from people just trying to make amazing things (super nice people too!). But the amazing authors/coders/graphics guys in the VPW group still seem to have embers of motivation and still continue to make progress. I think its best to LET THEM COOK and for everyone else to just avoid any bs or drama (or even better.. jump in and help with projects, reach out to contribute, put the hours in to make progress on some small part of a bigger project)

So - long rant summed up... Drik (and the entire rest of the community) is MORE than welcome to use my version of this playfield, plastics, etc. and I would encourage him to do so if he's feeling motivated to finish HIS project, but he really should ditch the other assets that he straight up stole imho (ramps, plastics, decals, apron, pf mesh, primitives.. you've gotta do all that hard work yourself if you want to claim the final product). The stuff I share on my site was made entirely by me and the assets were started from scratch photos or scans that either I made or got permission to use and share freely. I promise you, those assets will likely be the best you'll get unless you do your own redraw or buy a pf and scan it... but my contributions PALE in comparison to the rest of the elements & efforts put in by the VPW group to get the project as far as its gotten. The amount of elements and work that drik straight up stole from other people's hard work and effort was A LOT, and it really isn't cool.

I hope this post didn't come across as harsh. Drik, if you really are motivated, it seems like you still have a respectable crew of people willing to help and its super cool to have JP on board to help with code, but I really think you should ditch the work that isn't yours before any type of public deployment (in fact.. I'd request that you don't use any of my assets if the final product will still include ripped off work from other people), if you remove the assets that aren't yours to use, then you're welcome to use anything I've shared and please let me know if I can help contribute to your project!

I made 2 versions of Magic Girl. The VPW assets I received were on a github where I wasn't been invited.
But my first version of magic girl, she, was on this github.
I know it 'cause among the files of VPW, there was some assets from my first version.
I guess it was only for reference as that version was really ugly and only intended to learn to use VPX.
At that time, I didn't see any problem but now, it changed.

Here's a complete list of the assets I used:

Playfield redraw (not the mesh, no, but indeed, I have it)

3d Objects:
Apron, Owl, Plastic Ramps, Levitation Chamber, Scoop, Holographic Spinner and Slingshot Blades

Textures:
Apron, Owl, and Levitation Chamber

Like VPW, I received all the plastics and decals from the team "pinballprofessionals.nl" and they were built by myself as walls, not primitives...
You can see them on the editor at the beginning of the videos I uploaded.
It's been a while the team doesn't use walls for plastics anymore.

Build Magic Girl on VPX was just an idea to have fun, nothing more...
it's not more important than that, just entertainment and fun.
I even learned to code a table thanks to JP. He's the best teacher I could have.
you can think what you want, I'm just finishing a project I started.

This post is not intended to annoy anyone. It's just sharing.
Do you see a download link?
Can you imagine how many PM I received to ask the table?
If I had wanted the table would already be in nature.

If it bothers you, I can't do anything for you.
But no one can stop me from sharing the progress of the table with the community.

Don't worry, EBisLit, I have no desire to use your assets...
All this drama for kid bullshit...

I forgot the frame around the LCD screen :D:

I do find it strange. I thought he just decided he wasn't going to release it and that was it. But he keeps showing it to us lol

I don't get it and I won't pretend to understand it but I'm sure he doesn't mean for it to come across like it is.

he who shall not be named used to do this kind of stuff with future pinball and he turned out to be a real jerk

I'm sorry to see that you took it badly that I refused your help.

Nevertheless, the table is now over and will be shared via Youtube.

At some point, you will have a far better version with the VPW one, and an alternative if your system can't handle it.
Magic Girl is a fantastic pinball, everyone will be able to enjoy it.

It"s time to move on...

Ouch!

I was just replying to a comment I was tagged in by JP and clarifying that you are more than welcome to my assets, I respect your work and I was willing to help if you're starting on your project again (the implication when you shared the images..)

"Don't worry, EBisLit, I have no desire to use your assets...

All this drama for kid bullshit.."

...alright. Just don't use them, no need to be a douche about it though.

I think EBisLit nailed it about the rallying.

@dirk333: I'm sorry you're in this impossible situation, but remember, it's completely self-inflicted. All you had to do was to communicate with us, yet you chose to do you own thing.

You've already sucked out enough motivation from us. We're going to pick up this project again in the next months. So yes, please, move on.
