Installed this setup in the cab with a old regular sized mouse & paint stick that were laying around. Easy enough to install the software & get up rolling in VPX.

Truly amaze balls! Power & accuracy are beyond my expectations...skill shots are way better now.

Thanks for this NailBuster & everything you do for the community!!!

Happy new year! I have nearly got this amazing software to work. I have a problem where if a ball gets locked on a table the plunger just auto fires for the rest of the game afterwards. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

not possible as this mouse-plunger only hooks into mouse-movements and has no idea of anything else on your cab.  Double-check the table and check with other tables for something else...there's a huge amount of people using this without any reports of issues.

Happens on not just ball locks but just on ball launches too. The plunger just auto fires again and again. It's like it's not resetting properly. Seems to happen when I am attempting skill shots like on TOTAN. On a full pull back and release I have no problems. I reckon it's the ini file settings. They probably need tweaking for my mouse but I do not know what each setting does. Could you explain please in layman's terms? Lol. Thanks.

I know it's not a hardware issue because plunger works fine with Future Pinball native mouse support.

Are you using the VP10.7 beta?

it is this option "Enable 1s Plunger retract" that makes the plunger go back and forth, you find it in the "Keys, Nudge and DOF" preferences.

Do you still have to use the mouse plunger software with 10.7? I am using the software with 10.6 at the moment. Does 10.7 have native mouse support? That 'enable plunger retract' option is not in 10.6

No I don't have the mouse plunger software, I read that you have the plunger firing continuously, and I thought it was the new VP10.7 plunger option.

If I remember correctly, with the mouse you can control the flippers, but not the plunger.

Just wanted to share my setup. My plunger is inline with my playfield, so I placed my mouse under it. I was going to use a bent strip of aluminum and was using a piece of thick poster board for a template, but found out it works just great the way it is. I have come across a couple of kinks that I haven't worked out yet.

1. Like others have posted, I can't get the plunger to work in VP9 tables (using 9.9.5). Is there something that has to be added to the table script or something? That is the only thing I've come up with while searching for the problems of using joystick plungers in VP9.

2. When I pull the plunger all the way back, it doesn't register when I let go. Is it traveling too fast for the mouse to measure? Does one of the settings in the ini fire correct this? I think I read something about a gaming mouse might be able to to register faster movements than a regular mouse. Anyone have experience with this?

Other than that, it works great and I'm glad I came across this thread because I'm all about cheap and DIY. Thanks for the ingenuity!

Review the readme file in NailBuster's zip file...walks through on how to add to your startup.

you can disable that 'hide-feature' always in ini..but you can press the mouse wheel on ANY mouse to get back, so not sure where the issue is.

Hi All,

I stumbled across this plunger option and was really excited to use. I pray that people still see or follow this thread and can offer some support.

I have a 3 screen cab which I built from scratch and used PinUp Baller Installer from the main man AKA Nailbuster (Thank you for your hard work on making this process alot easier). I have installed over 100 games with pup packs within VPX and think I am now fairly competent in how my cabinet works, is setup and how VPX works. I am running Windows 10. For my buttons I use JoyToKey for the mapping in FX3.

I printed out the 3D printed sleeve which I have fitted onto a Williams plunger and have installed the mouse on top of the sleeve and mouse wire is pointing in 12 o’clock position.

After software installation using Nailbuster’s files in the zip, I can pull my plunger back and the mouse icon moves left to right on my playfield. This obviously confirms it is working and that the mouse is reading the slider. However, I’m unsure if this correct due to the plunger needing to pull in an up and down position. I’m presuming the software from nailbuster corrects this movement? I have gone into VPX 10.6 and 10.7 and selected the ry axis. In 10.7 I also unchecked the retract plunger in 1s option.

EDIT: ALL WORKING NOW.

Initially I had an issue where the plunger wasn't working in VPX. Even though this thread says the files will allow you to install the mouse with the wire pointing at 12 o'clock I couldn't get it to work so I made a bracket to hold the mouse in the 9 o'clock position and it all started working. I do need to fine tune slightly because the plunger movement isn't as smooth as I would like but it certainly works. After a little bit of calibration which I need to work out how to do I'm sure I'll get it perfect.

EDIT2: After a little bit more playing around I now realise why my plunger wasn’t working in the 12 o’clock position. It was because I didn’t change the value in the .ini file. You just need to change the following from 0 to 1,

;If mouse is rotated in (mouse buttons are facing 12 o’clock instead of 9 o’clock) set to 1, 0 = default;

RotateMouseX=0

I’m now working on finetuning my plunger because I can pull my plunger way back than is required when watching the plunger retract on the playfield. I’m guessing it’s one of these settings in the .ini file so will play with the values and see what effect the changes made. I’ll try and remember to report back on what settings I ended up with.

;amount of quick change to detect plunger was released.

MouseFireDelta=75

;minimum/starting YAxis value of joystick.

YAxisDeadZone=16000

;speed factor of motion to yaxis values

SpeedFactor=15

I have provided a link below to show photos of my setup.

Thanks in advance.

I am having trouble with this.... I can hear it firing, and I see on the app that it is firing, but I am not seeing the plunger move back... I have messed with some speed settings with no luck, my mouse buttons are pointed to 12 o clock and that setting is at 1 appropriately.

i am using 10.7

**FIXED

I reinstalled the vjoy driver... it looked like it was working and everything but I can confirm the reinstallation made it actually work.

Thanks!!

This is fantastic! I'm still formulating my pin cab in my mind and I want to have a "plunger-less" cabinet.

Having been in the coin operated industry in the 80's; I had lots of player controls in stock, one being a track wheel. (its like a track ball, but only one axis instead of two)

The track wheel and nailbusters concept is going to bring this idea to life.

I'm going to possibly mount the track wheel on my modified lock down bar.

Thanks.

Clever. wish you had posted 6 months ago. Do I need to bedazzle my mouse first? :)

It was a tragedy that a mouse so 'bedazzled' had to find its home inside a dark cab ;)

I tried something different with the idea today.... same idea in general but I think it may work better.

I apparently like using paint sticks for 'things'....  I used a paint stick instead of a strap/weight....  I'm going to see which one I like better....
