Did you do this

go to the online DOF config tool, sign in and make a new config file that includes a WS2811 controller. To do this you sign in and go to the My Account tab and increase the number of WS2811 Devices to 1 (for the Teensy board).

Next go to Combine Toys and make two combos one for the right PF Flashers MX and PF Effects MX and one for the left.

Lastly, go to the Port Assignments Tab, choose the WS2811 - directoutputconfigini30 device and assign port 1 to your first LED strip (1 red, 2 green, 3 blue) and port 4 for the second LED strip (4 red, 5 green, 6 blue).

Having some issues with wiring I think. Does the Teensy get ground from the Ethernet (which is grounded from the power supply), or do I have to run ground from the power supply to Teensy directly (and separately to the led strip)?

Its grounded when you connect -ve to the white / colour on the cat6 end of the cable joined to the LED strip.

Was just coming back to say that, I got it working without grounding the Teensy separately. Got 1 strip working with teensy, now need to get DOF setup. Thanks!

Just got my Teensy and octo board and am trying to set it up and cant get anything to work properly

I have the board wired correctly it seems as I used a test program that lit all of the leds and then cycled thru each color.  I then installed the beta firmware from here

https://github.com/D...roller/releases

Not sure if thats the right one I should use or not?

I then went to the online tool and made a config file, along with the other ones posted in the beginning of this thread. My files are enclosed and not even sure if they are named correctly?

I have the directoutput program in my c drive and a shortcut in my VP tables folder pointing to it. All of the config files go in the config folder I assume?

So when I plug in my Teensy, it shows connected to com 4, and it also calls it a virtuapin pindmd3 So I have 2, one on com 3 which is my real DMD display and one on com 4, well when I load a table, my real DMD doesnt work so thats the first hurdle to get over for me.

I cant seem to get anywhere with this. I think I have the drivers loaded OK, my virtuapin dmd3 is on com 3 and it now says the teensy is on com 4, but if I go into the details tab on the teensy it calls it a virtuapin pindmd3? The DMD works fine if the teensy is not plugged in, but if I plug it in then the DMD doesnt work?? Any ideas?

i used another computer to load the Teensy and it works fine on that one, loads fine in device manager and is labeled correctly but there are no other ports being used that could conflict with it.

In your GlobalConfig_B2SServer.xml file

this line ---    <CabinetConfigFilePattern>C:\DirectOutput\config\CabinetConfig.xml</CabinetConfigFilePattern>

Change to   --- <CabinetConfigFilePattern>C:\DirectOutput\config\Cabinet.xml</CabinetConfigFilePattern>

change this line to true

<ClearLogOnSessionStart>true</ClearLogOnSessionStart>

In your Cabinet file you only have this in for the PF Left

      <LedStripArrangement>TopDownLeftRight</LedStripArrangement>

Will that fix the device entry naming in the device manager and make the dmd work when the teensy is plugged in? i think that needs to be fixed first doesnt it?

That I couldn't tell you but I don't think it would hurt to have things more correct

Ok, I fixed those files I think but it still hasnt helped with the conflict with my DMD which I didnt think it would.

I reloaded the teensy serial program from their site, now my pindmd3 is normally on com 3 and when I plug the teensy in it says its on com 4, and no errors in device manager, but if I load a game with the teensy plugged in the dmd will not work and it gives me a error saying it cant find pindmd3. If I unplug the teensy the DMD works fine. Not sure what to check?

So my dmd will work if I pay a pinballfx3 game but not if I play a visual pinball game, it says not found. I thought it may be one of the files wrong so I removed them from everything and my dmd will still not work if the teensy is plugged into the usb port.

I didn't add a hub into the equation, That could add another point to not work. I plugged it right into the computer motherboard ports with a short USB cable and tried moving them around as well. i can program it fine on the cabinet computer so it is recognized OK, its just the dmd wont run if its plugged in.

I have read other things on here where people couldn't get certain things to work and they added a hub, problem solved -- don't know if that'll work for you or not

Looks like the teensy uses the same driver as the pindmd does according to the teensy forums, not sure how to get it to work or how anyone has but obviously they have. Can someone post a screenshot of their pindmd + teensy hardware id and compatible id like I did in the post here in this link?
