I did not try the GUI. I manually updated from the bitbucket source and otherwise followed the instructions on the wiki. Upgrading to Windows 10 compelled me to turn away from using 4K DSR for VP. I now am just using 1080p. I'm pretty sure that this is what fixed my issue with being able to launch the ball. Everything is playable now!

Cool. I mentioned before I have weird issue with the woods kicker sometimes whilst capturing (gets stuck), but not from the trough.

I'm trying to play, I'm new at this. I have the following errorsattachicon.gif1.jpgattachicon.gif2.jpg

Did you do this step?

Yes but it does not work. I need this file
yaml: /../games/EvilDead/config/GameConfig.yaml

I had a look to see what could be happening here.

It seems I hardcoded GameConfig.yaml to the machine_config folder in the game anyway. The vp_game_map is still relevant, but not for the path, so the following will both work.

yaml: /../games/EvilDead/config/machine_config/GameConfig.yaml
yaml: /../games/EvilDead/config/GameConfig.yaml
@Jawdax, check you have the files?
Hi Yes. I have the two files, exactly as in the picture. maybe the problem is on the other side

VPX coming out of beta inspired me to look at ED again. Still have to figure out how to flip the DMD for a P2K style cab. I'm hoping to figure out how to manipulate the DMD frame in the buffer. Seems easier to do this than to go through and flip all the underlying assets, animations, fonts and so on. Will require some research on my part. I don't know pyprocgame, it's dependent libraries or Python for that matter. Would not hurt me at all to learn, though.

I have not yet tried to run with official VPX., but I have some WIP tables older than ED that seem to work OK.

It's always an option to capture and stream. I have to do this with FX2 as there is no way that I am aware of to flip the DMD. Problem is that there is inevitably some latency.. Not a big deal for FX2. I don't think any of the tables have DMD video modes. It would be a problem where the table has a video mode.

Having access to source code at least provides some hope for coming up with a cleaner solution. I've seen that there is a Python code library available for image processing.

Thanks for the link. I would have been looking at the wrong code.

Thanks for the hints. At least in the skeleton table, the file sdl2_displaymanager.py defines draw functions that include the flip/rotation parameter. Getting to a solution could be relatively painless. Sadly, this time around I wasn't able to get an error free install on my test bed laptop with setupHelper.

error1.png

I manually copied over SDL2_ttf.dll and tried to run the skeleton table

error2.png

I tried explicitly changing the path in games\SkeletonVP10\config.yaml to point to vp_game_map.yaml but got the same error.

I have various tools on this laptop that have installed Python multiple times (The Gimp, Inkscape, etc.). I'm not aware that this should be a problem, though.

Did not get the install figured out for my laptop-based test bed. Fortunately cabinet works OK. Backed up everything and changed in sdl2_displaymanager.py lines 364, 395, and 451 so that the parameter flip = 2. I haven't played very deeply into the game, but that appears to do the trick to vertically flip the DMD frames. So far, only the Player 1 start frame does not appear to be flipped for whatever reason.

The source code seems to be ready made to have flipping the DMD as an option. I'll see if I can figure out how to add as a display option in config.yaml rather than have to change the source code every time there is an update.

More people should be diving in to this now that VPX is official. It's a really cool original table.

Thanks again. I'm sure you know, but for the record: Value = 0 is no flip; value = 1 is horizontal flip; value = anything else is vertical flip

Hopefully a similar tactic can be used for CCC and JD.

FYI I switched ISP to Google Fiber. I've got a great wi-fi signal to my cab now. It's now worth it to figure out auto cloning.

Oh, the asset that isn't getting flipped is where there is a call out for Player 1 to launch the ball. Happens after ball drain in other words.

I had JD and the Skeleton table running.  I tried to get EvilDead running and started getting errors when launching via VP. Now both JD and Skeleton is giving the following errors.  :(
