OK So I thought I would jump in here because I am definitely going crazy waiting for this to come out for the iPad and Mac. I owned the Gottlieb collection on Xbox and PSP. I probably played that game more than every other game combined I had for my PSP. I also have the Williams collection for PS3 and love it. There are definitely pros and cons to it and VP. I welcome it and if they came out with spanned tables I wouldnt look back. I have several Macs and if its sold in the Mac app store I instantly have tables across all computers. Then when bought for iOS I have it on my ipad and iphone.

I love VP don't get me wrong but the tables out there are not the model of consistency. Some are amazing and some look like shit. Hey I can't even begin to build a VP table and I am not knocking those who do I am just saying not all tables are created equal. PA would have all tables made with the exact same level of quality. VP will always have the better variety because lets face it is Farsight going to make a Future Spa table? I doubt it. One of my favorites and a machine I used to own.

VP tables are also physicswise not the same. Some games feel like your playing with the powerball (Star Trek 25th Ann) while others are unable to make shots common in real life (Comet). I have the benefit of living in Las Vegas and go to the Pinball Hall of Fame regularly and can play tons of machines, so I am not trying to remember these machines from years ago.

Mac support. Lets face it if you have a Mac (don't start a flaming on Mac vs PC on this thread) VP is never going to support it. This brings more people in and makes pinball even more accesible. Good for all of us.

A big thing in PA's favor is the fact that there is no work involved. You download a game and it plays. I have spent hours and sometimes banged my head against the wall trying to figure stuff out in the beginning. This is time in my life I will never get back. It would be nice to have something I turn on that just works everytime with automatic updates. A known quantity is always a good thing.

The last and biggest thing. It's legal. VP is copyright infringement at its best. Artwork, programming, and IP all just taken like it is a free item. I've done it we all have and a lot of times I blame companies for making hard for someone to try to get easy access to their product even when someone wants to pay for it. I could download movies or songs for free but I choose not to because I have a way to pay for it. I will do the same with pinball.

Thats my rant but on a side not here is a list of the games Farsight has previously done so I am thinking we can count on seeing these show up as DLC.

Ace High
Big Shot
Black Hole
Central Park
Genie
Tee'd Off
Victory
Play-Boy
El Dorado City of Gold
Goin' Nuts
Strikes n' Spares
Black Knight
Firepower
Funhouse
Gorgar
Pin*Bot
Space Shuttle
Taxi
Whirlwind
Jive Time
Sorcerer
Tales of the Arabian Nights
Medieval Madness
No Good Gofers

It's definitely coming to the Mac store.

They said they plan to bring every table from their previous collections eventually.....except Jive Time.

They said on their Facebook page they would probably not be porting Jive time to the pinball arcade because they would have to re-do all the physics and textures and they'd rather focus on newer tables.

What would be great is if they made an editor and player so we could make our own "originals"

They said they are planning on doing that but not in the first year according to their responses to people's questions on their Facebook page.

I'm more than betting it's a private beta, where you sign an NDA and agree not to hand it out. Kind of like the exclusive distribution rights many authors have for their tables. No torrentin! smile.gif

If Farsight Studios released a table editor based from their own code, that would be beautiful. Suddenly we wouldn't be limited to just the Win32 platform. There's plenty of other advantages as well. I would love to play with it.

Ok, I've been picked for the Android Beta. I'm going to try to complete all goals on all tabels, which I expect to be sufficient testing. Furthermore I will of couse play around with the menus. After a few games I'll post my first experiences with the beta version of the game which becomes available tomorrow. Please don't send me any private messages to send the APK-file, because I won't ever do so. Any questions about the game can of course be posted here and I will reply in as much detail as possible.

Is anyone running this beta on iOS, maybe an Ipad 1?

What game are you running and how does it perform compared to rom emulation and VP in general?

I wasn't one of the chosen ones :0(

Yes, I'm running the iOS beta on an iPad 2 and it's very nice. Farsight is using the original ROMs, so I'd say it performs just as nice as VP, except with more bells and whistles (camera options, leaderboards, very detailed table instructions, etc.)

There are four machines so far:

Tales of The Arabian Nights
Theatre of Magic
Ripley's Believe it Or Not
Black Hole
