here's a new original table to try out: Berzerk by myself :D I tried to throw together a table that was an homage to the classic early solid state games i've been playing a lot lately and i think it turned out. The gameplay is completely done/functional. I am going to do some graphical improvements on the table (there are a few lights that are misaligned) and i want to really improve my GI chops. The art was modified/adapted from various resources including a scanned atari instruction manual that I found (that's what made me choose that theme). Let me know what you think and if you have any graphical suggestions. I plan to be releasing a b2s version of the table as soon as i get some feedback and wrap up the coding of the table itself. All feedback is welcomed!

played your table TftC for a while tonight Fren, I love the lighting and bloom and is a visual marvel.  However I did get this same error 2 times while playing, both times on my last ball during multiball.

Script error line 1008 Subscript out of range 'b'

right on I will give it a shot ... I'm with you on the ball rolling sounds and script ... I have not mastered them yet ... got to be a better way. I for one would like to option to increase or decrease the volume of the ball rolling sound.

 Thanks man.

Yeah why can't the ball rolling be built into vp? I mean ball rolling is a part of pinball and option to increase/decrease volume would be great built in feature! Les73gtx you have a great suggestion

I do have DOF and option 4 enabled in the script .... also have been trying to get the tiny bit of stutter out of the table when in multiball and any of the balls goes over the wire ramps. In normal play it will cut my FPS down by half when a ball goes up the back wire ramp and in multiball it will drop to 20 fps ... I will try with vsync set to 2 instead of 1 ....

Thanks randr  ... yes a primary emulation feature (ball rolling sounds and collision sounds) I would think would be priority to have included in a new build of VP.

Ball rolling should really be built in for many reasons, mainly the more essentials that are built in and standard, the better every table will be (if done right in VP).  Please devs, somehow add this to VP.  Thanks

Fren , went from 8 to 9 on the tnob setting and I did not have the problem again, thanks.

I am not trying to break your table but it is eating my balls .... lol  .... coming off the wire ramp into the return lane on the right side the ball will go under the sling and vanish. also a couple other small things .... sorry man it is great work. I think a lot of this is just the new system is all.

I did change the group lights to reflect off objects and now the ball has the cool reflections on it ... you might have made it to not reflect on purpose so again sorry if that is the case.

Good info I'll fix! I know ball reflections are a big performance hit. I sort of go low on this out of personal performance preference but it's certainly good looking to enable it!

I was playing with Dr Dude and could not seem to get the reflection on the ball to work. I am sure I am missing something and will keep digging around in this some what new editor.
You are right looks great but does have some impact on performance
Thanks Fren

....

The Scared Stiff table is wonderful. I totally love all those primitives and how the little monsters jump around. so much going on at this table and so beautiful!

I used the same backdrop settings gStav posted for addams family, they don't fit perfectly but good enough to play. You really should add them to the table. I had one issue, that was reproducable 3 times. Everytime i hit the crate, the ball doesn't come out again and i have to restart the game. It also takes long for the ball to reappear when it hits the drain. about 15seconds... The spider on my backglass also doesn't move when i get the "stop the spider mode", don't know if it's my backglass or an issue with the table. I'm using the latest rom you're refering to in the script.

Btw, why is there a VISUAL PINBALL banner? I couldn't find it in the image manager, how do i get rid of it?

Hi Talantyyr, don't know about the spider spinner on the BG as I'm not home to test it, but here's some better tuned FS values for you...

scared.jpg

For the Visual pinball-banner, just click backdrop and select the black TextBox and delete it ;D

You wouldn't happen to have some FS settings for the Attack from Mars table?

To bring it to the perspective in the nightmod for example...

I added a * 100 to this line in the ball rolling code to increase the volume...  seems to work well..

Function Vol(ball) ' Calculates the Volume of the sound based on the ball speed
    Vol = Csng(BallVel(ball) ^2 / 2000) * 100
End Function

I hate the ball rolling sound scripts and the ball rolling sound in general. On real modern tables you do not hear the ball rolling. The vp sounds way off due to this. It's probably useful only on EM or very early and slow SS tables. I always gut those sounds out of the tables. I find it as annoying as super loud footsteps in other video games. People don't all wear tap shoes everywhere.

Hehe! Don't know if I'm a POV-guy (except some movies of course...  :db:  ),

but here's a slightly better angle

of the Attack from Mars table. note that you will get grey walls now, but I think it is better anyways.

When you unzip the VPX-beta zip file, you also have to unzip the containing vbs.zip file in your scripsts folder. These new vbs scripts contain the cvpmthrough and other stuff.

@fren: could you maybe add a seizure warning to TFTC? So dark and flashy... :stunned:

When i amped up the night-day slider, i noticed that the light intensity is so high, that the falloff power doesn't make it fade before the falloff border.

But maybe that's intentional?!
