For those concerned about FP's errr.... future
I talked with Black via e-mail and FP development is NOT dead.
However I have NO information on when there will be any updates, new versions or the future of the FP forums.
This is solely in the hands of Chris (Black) Leathley.

Cheers
Leon

Good news, Leon. Happy to see you here!
A new FP version with a new Leo's table would be a great thing...

Hi all!

Another FP guy in suspended animation just poppin' in to say hello.

Not much in the way of pinball going on at the moment, mainly due to BDJ (Boring Day Job) and also this:

http://soliluxe.pethu.se/

...which is chugging along quite nicely, coming up on release 1.3 soon.

Still playing the odd table, though, and sure to pop back now and then to check on the wars -- sorry, I mean future developments! wink.gif

Hehehe...

EDIT: I just checked randydavis.com, and that seems to be gone now, too! That is (was?) the homepage for VP. We are the support/community board.

But the site is alway in the Google cache and you can see that one menu (feedback) is oriented on www.vpforums.com
You have an other menu with links: IRPinball, Shiva site, Pinball pasture, ...

randydavis.com is/was the homepage for VP.

VPForums.org has been the official support site since the release of VP9.

Not sure what you mean, when you're referring to a dead site (vpforums.com) as the homepage.

Noah: last time I checked, Randy's site still pointed to vpforums.com, Popotte is just indicating this. Since you are in contact with Randy (assuming this from that interview), would be cool to ask him to change the link on his site, assuming his site will be back up soon (it periodically has gone up/down).

Here is the google cache link I get, you can see it still points to: www.vpforums.com. Last time I checked Randy's site (a few months ago?), it was still pointing to the .com domain.

randydavis.com was the homepage for VP and www.vpforums.com was the official (for Randy) site for VP.
Now, VP is VP9. I don't think VP9 is a Randy's version. Now, for me, it's a Nanotechent version (for 9.0) and a Brian Smith's version for the later versions (I don't know exactly what Rolle Cruz have made, sorry). And you are the official site.
It was just a little joke... Just a remaining of the good old times. Present time is good too. You make a really great job Noah and I have to congratulate you. You made a global site for pinball emulation. I really appreciate the poor little (at the beginning) FP section. And I tried to promote FP... For me, you do have "official" site for support (bugs, wanted evolution, ...). They are mandatory in order to have reponses by the authors. But after... FPRelease (for example) is a not "official" site (but linkek via a RSS feed in FP), IRPinball and Pinball Nirvana too, ... but they are essential sites.
Now, for the moment (and it's not a joke), you are the official site for both VP and FP (not really for FP but as you are the only site...)
For me, official site or not, if you like something you have to go on the main sites about your passion. I'm here before FP forum disappear. And on Pinball Nirvana, VP Originals... And on french sites about real pinballs.
Just think: you have not an only site... You have a lot of great sites. Just try them...

PS: an other interesting cache (11/11/2009): http://209.85.129.13...s...=clnk&gl=fr
Just notice the forum not a forum... But, dear Noah, you are now the forum and a great thank for that!

Thanks, Popotte, for the kind words.

I'd like to get this topic back on track, but I'd like to point out that someone asked a straight question. No point in confusing anyone.

This site is the official site for Visual Pinball, and, again, it has been since VP 9 was released. If you look at the rest of Randy's page, it hadn't been updated since VP 6!

This is something I'm very proud of, and having an "official" site only serves to perpetuate the hobby.

Hello Steve, Popotte, Buzz, and so many other fine FP Forums friends and colleagues. I realize that this most recent situation with Chris (Black) has many in a frenzy. There no doubt that the closing of FP Forums and forced speculation that occurs in the drought of words from Black spells bad press for Future Pinball. Since FP is coded with a death date, that too has many sick, and willing to jump ship. However, I'm wanting to just check a couple of quick things to see if my thumb is indeed still on the pulse of the FP team.

Noah Fentz has welcomed us with open arms into VP Forums. A blessing in a great time of need indeed.
Steve, a self-less contributor to everything Future Pinball (cabinet help, front-ends, tech support, graphic design, and of course, great tables!!) is here to moderate, and filled with the same team spirit!
We have a good editor, with a strong engine, capable of providing fantastic pinball and derivative gaming experiences.
We have a superb library of tables to download and play.
Great tables are in development right now!
And if necessary, death dates can usually be patched over by freshman computer science majors.

We have a lot to be thankful for. The impact of Future Pinball has been huge, and the momentum can not be stopped by a forum closing down. And in this day and age, when an application is released to the world like FP has, it doesn't die easily. Keep your heads up folks.

So Steve ... where to I post all of those custom pinball cabinet pictures at? We need a new simulator cabinet gallery here at VPForums!
Thanks all!
Rob Craig

Hi Rob,
Fancy seeing the old popbumper over here biggrin.gif
So nice to see my old buddy onboard, and I agree 100 per cent, with your comments, and I also think a pinball cabinet picture area or devoted thread would be a neat idea.
What you say Noah / Steve ??
Cheers Buzz

ps Rob - did you ever release the podcast from last years pinball expo interview / talk you did there about FP / VP - would love to here it sometime........

So glad to see you here Mr.Craig! your expertise here will be a Delight... biggrin.gif
As for posting picture, there is already a forum section here for Cabinet making, tips and whatever could be related to it:
http://www.vpforums....hp?showforum=29

And regarding the Expiry date, it is indeed quite easy to find a small application that set the current date to an earlier static date, while opening your program and restoring the time on exit. rolleyes.gif

So yes, it is business as usual.
