Thanks for the input, but at least on my system the same thing happens (nothing is displayed).  Still messing around.  What is another table that has a working DMD in regular desktop mode?

OK guys, the Noob did it. Was able to add the dmd to NBA Fastbreak Darthmarino Mod 1.2:

I just opened Jpsalas Attack from Mars 1.3.0 which has a working dmd.

1. go to backdrop on NBA Fastbreak

2. create a textbox (name: textbox1) that has the same values and checks as the one in AfM

3. copy these lines from AfM or here into NBA Fastbreaks script (I put it to line 19):

Dim VarHidden, UseVPMColoredDMD
If Table1.ShowDT = true then
    UseVPMColoredDMD = true
    VarHidden = 1
else
    UseVPMColoredDMD = False
    VarHidden = 0
    TextBox1.Visible = 0
    lrail.Visible = 0
    rrail.Visible = 0
end if

if B2SOn = true then VarHidden = 1

Please let me know if it works and if it works on other tables as well. Thank you

Edit: A T2 version I tried didnt work. High Speed II v.1.2 works!

We need it, now! :D I think a lot of bad visuals are due to the godrays we get from the black invironment. Please save us and our eyes!

Another quick advice: How to get rid fast from most lights artifacts on many tables? table options -> lightning -> bloom: 0 / Elvis looks so much better with that change. I also set Ambient Occlusion Scale to 1, but I have no idea why. ;) Feels just right.

It looks so much different in the headset. I'll try turning off bloom for sure though...

I have no luck with my WMR headset and the RX580. The vpin window on the main monitor shows the table running but no image in the VR preview window and on the VR headset. It just turns black once I start the table.

Any ideas?

Matty, what graphics card do You have with Your Lenovo WMR headset?

Did you try another table? Please show your VN graphic settings. Did you try to the reduce the resolution in steamvr?

I just played a few games in VR and I must say it was the best VPX feeling I have ever had!  It was just amazing.  This really is a game changer.  When this gets more complete someone has to show Randy Davis this :)

Now we know how to add VR DMD support for many tables. Unfortunately the DMDs position doesnt fit exactly. Maybe someone could find out how to put the dmd into the correct position. Thank you

 I was fooling around with this again this afternoon for a couple hours,

I picked the same code as you from AFM, copied and pasted it and created a textbox with the same settings as AFM also, then put it into Avatar and Pinball Magic but had no luck with either, Then went off on other tangents of trying stuff. I had a feeling in my bones that it was going to work when the table started loading without any errors. But didn't have any luck. I'll have to try it on Fastbreak.

I tried hooking up a second monitor, but it made no difference for me.

Tables working for me With the DMD in the VR headset so far are:

AFM, G&R,JP's Spiderman and Transformers, Tron, ACDC,Walking Dead, RIBON, No Fear, STTNG

Jeesus I can't get over the quick progress. This is fantastic!  I'm a big VR fan with NO TIME :( to try this right now but I'll have to get on this ASAP, too cool.

One thing I've not seen anyone comment on that should be instantly noticeable is the improved lag time that you should get from playing VP on a headset with low persistent screens.  Unlike when we play on our LCD/LED/whatever PC screens, VR headset screens are build differently to minimize input lag.  For example, playing Zaccaria or Pinball FX2 feels totally different (for the better) in VR as opposed to on regular PC or consoles.  So has anyone seen a difference playing VPX tables in VR compared to regular PC?

edit: I think one table you guys should test is Banzai Run. There's an amazing FSS version released so hopefully the backglass works properly (if it's not already been tested, I've not read the entire 7 pages of messages)

@The Loafer: I never played VP on a desktop. I didnt recognize any lag on the Rift. It is just awesome.

@all The DMD size and position has to be changed in the registry. Anybody got the time to try this out and let us know?

How did you get multiple tables like that? Gives me an idea for a virtual front end  :hmm: I primarily work in Unity with C#. I could probably learn XR programming in a few months if time permits and whip up an interface. What might be cool is having a place like the Cliff House where you can walk around to different rooms. Perhaps one room would be all Gottlieb and the tables are placed in chronological order, another room with Stern, etc. You could select a machine with the laser off the controller (I have an Odyssey+) or even use a voice command. Even gestures if that is allowed with OpenVR and WMR?

I am having a blast with VPX in VR. Zaccaria on Steam too.

Zero lag on my Odyssey+. Using a keyboard with my laptop (i7, 1060 3 gig). Multi ball is awesome in VR! I think I had 5 going in JP's Elvis. The DMD works on that table. Just slightly out of position.

Well, this is extremely cool. I know others strongly disagree, but I never quite felt like virtual pinball was as good a substitute for the real thing as emulated video games. For me, the element of bodily movement, tracking and redirecting objects in 3D, just isn't sufficiently replicated -- until VR. Pinball FX2 VR was the first VR pin I played, and I knew it was a game changer but not until tonight have I been able to play the classics. I just hopped out of games in AFM, Radical, Robocop, Space Station, TAF, and T2. The vast archive that this community has painstakingly built and labored over for years has a whole new life now. Congratulations! Nice work Caligula_!
