I have just downloaded Future DMD 1.81 from here, have copied the files in to tthe folder containing future pinball.exe but nothing happens when I run the .exe as administrator. No errors, hour glass, just nothing. I am running windows 7 64bit if that matters.

What I mean is ABSOLUTELY nothing happens when I run FutureDMD.exe.

I am following the setup PDF file. Under the "Basic Installation" section it says copy the 4 files to my future pinball folder. I have done this.

Then, in the "Positioning"  section of the setup guide it says "After you run FutureDMD.exe for the first time you will need to position it in your dmd window."

The problem is NOTHING happens when I double click and run FutureDMD.exe. The instructions say right click and select the screen number I am using for DMD. There is nothing to right-click.

Is the DMD screen supposed to appear after I run FutureDMD.exe? If so , this is not happening, like I said. Nothing happens. I double click the icon in windows and nothing opens or runs.

Is the DMD screen supposed to appear after I run FutureDMD.exe?  -- Yes

The first time you may get an error but the second time it should open the DMD

Did you check this

Unblock Files
  • Right click the file and select Properties in the context menu.
  • Select the General tab in the properties window.
  • If you find the text _"This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" or somthing similar on this tab, click the Unblock button. This should fix the issue.

If the text about the file coming from another computer does not exist, everthing should be fine.

Thanks for the help. I figured out what was wrong. Nothing at all :)

My problem was that my desktop background on my computer is solid black and I just couldn't see the dmd on launch :)

All is well now, this is amazing!

HI! i have a dual monitor cab that run Futurepinball (1.9.1.20091231) + BAM + Future DMD 1.81 (this last on the second monitor) Win 7 x64

some table run great (Indiana Jones ULTIMATE Ed, Medieval Madness ULTIMATE ed, Jurassic Park ULTIMATE ed 1.02 etc...) but some table won't show the DMD correctly.

some example

Big Bang Bar 2.0 2015 zed physics show a empty DMD on the second monitor

Nightmare on Elm Street ULTIMATE ed. 1.02 show only the text but no animation or background

All the DMD on the main screen work correctly, the problem are only with Future DMD

I've checked that the DMD are all 128x32, Texture filtering OFF or Bilinear, Use texture compression (S3TC) OFF

Tried to edit the "Extra flags" in texture manager with no luck

Any ideas? i run the software with future dmd.exe, does something change if i use future dmd_relay.exe?

I just through finalizing the futuredmd set up and works really good, but I noticed that on all of the tables that have a "colored" dmd those colors are not transferred to futuredmd. Example, He-Man has a purple look to the dmd, but on furturedmd it is the default orange color. I wasn't sure if I would need to program each table that has a different color dmd inside of the futuredmd.ini and correspond the RGB color scheme to match that of the original dmd color that was programmed into the table? Programming the colors like what is mentioned in the futuredmd guide is the only way I see on how to accomplish this, but anyone has an easier way that would be amazing. Thanks for the help in advance.

Nope, no easier way. You would do it as instructed.

Not sure if anyone will see this but I can't get future dmd to load when running a table in FP using BAM or directly. It opens outside FP fine and I can resize but it does not hold the position. So how do I get the position to hold AND how do I get it to load with tables? The 4 required files are saved in both the FP folder AND the BAM folder. tried both alone too. nothing is working. and alt tab does not reveal it anywhere so I know it's not opening. full control has been granted to my whole FP folder.

OK, answered my own question, nevermind. pbx will run future dmd if told. it apparently does not run automatically with fploader. so you either have to use always on and set to start with windows so it remains in an off state similar to a real dmd then the tables will feed it the data when run, or use a front end to load it when loading tables.

I am finding that after I open futuredmd and put it in the spot and size I want, it holds the screen but does not seem to hold the size. It wants to snap back to a slightly larger size that causes it to be off center and cutoff some of the dmd display. Any tips on how to overcome this?

Try this and see if it helps

Adjust the size in the FutureDMD.ini file, Then make the file Read Only

nevermind, I realized the config file for future dmd was set to read only so it could not write the size/position changes. Unchecked read only and now it holds!

I've been trying to get this to work for some time now.....so I reinstalled Future Pinball using Terry Red's new updated Mega Guide as well as BAM. I installed futureDMD and opened it before starting a future pinball and moved the dmd to my 3rd screen (for DMD on all other Virtual Pinball programs) I right clicked on it to adjust the size then turned that off after I got it the right size.  Proceeded to open a table. the table loads but the futuredmd shows nothing but the blank orange like it does when there is no table loaded and it's just sitting there.

I tried to delete the futuredmd.ini file and just start over and readjust the dmd size and all that jazz again but no matter which futurepinball table I run I still get nothing showing up.

Anyone know what I can do to get it running?

I have tried everything in my power.......

FutureDMD can mirror a dmd only with a size of 128x32....If the dmd has another size, nothing will show up. The same problem exists if the table you want to start has 2 dmds with a size of 128x32. In this case FutureDMD doesn´t know which dmd it should mirror. So you have to resize one of them...Maybe you try it again with the Gremlins table, that table worked for me out of the box, as i can remember.

Hope this helps you a bit

Thanx for the suggestion!! After you posted this I double checked and i was changing or making sure it was the correct size, but was still having the issue. Some how I apparently had set the FutureDMD to open using administrator rights. I turned that off and opened it normally then opened a table and it now works. Thanks again. \m/

Nice one e51v50,thanks so much,  was same problem for me, spent hours trying to work it ou then came to your post, the actual setup instructions say you may need to run as administrator, so I did from outset, then just got the dots screen with nothing playing, after reading your post I took off admin check box in properties and all working hunky dory! FEW! (How it used to before my old machines hard drive crashed. Have new machine now with SSD, wont make that mistake again)
