P-ROC is not rom based (only old hardware is because it was designed to run very simple dedicated hardware)these days its just cheaper to use a pc so roms are not needed any more.

To get P-ROC code to run in vp(if i read the other thread correctly, only scanned it) You run the P-ROC code as is (python) And it talks to vp through a special version of the pinMAME.dll that talks to the python.

No roms / emulation involved. Your basically running the source, using pinMame as a middle man between P-ROC and vp.

Your statement isn't completely true, other aspects like protection and another operating system may also require emulation (think about Pinball 2000). I expected that the P-ROC code had to be compiled before it could be run. Otherwise the games are always open source, which may hold back people to release their new software in public.

Ps. Let's get back on topic again :)

Ah

I was always under the impression P-ROC was a hobbyist system not a commercial one. I don't think there is much protection on the game code? As far as im aware all the game logic is written in python? so it never gets compiled.

Back on topic though :)

Got the cabinet built (approx. 1 hr thanks to the CNC parts from MAMEMAN).
Fit test with the playfield went very smooth - fits nice and snug. Unfortunately looks like Zeus stands about a half inch too tall, gonna have to figure something out there.Attached File  image.jpg   170.56KB   185 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   172.24KB   176 downloads

Got the cabinet bondo'd, sanded, primed, painted, and decals added today along with the hardware.  Really starting to look like a real pinball machine now...

Excellent work. The artwork looks great on the cabinet - its looks commercial! I also like the clean front with start and extra ball buttons on either side.

Beautiful design.

Wow.  This is impressive!

Any chance you're going to redo the sounds on the game?  Maybe give it some custom music and add some depth to the voice calls?

I love WOOLY, the idea of it being a real machine that could show up at a show and I could get a chance to really play is bad ass.

You don't think my voice is deep enough? Lol. Yea, if this project really goes anywhere I plan on redoing some of the voice overs with more variety and deeper more god like sounds. I also have a few buddies lined up to make custom music as well if it gets to that.

Plan is still to have it at least flipping and at the Chicago expo this year... Stay tuned.

One of the voiceovers is coming out funny in PROC where you sound like a chipmunk. :)

Got the DMD bezel painted and mounted today along with the translite.  Long day, even Mr. Maynard was tired.

S1500 stopped over today for a couple of hours.  Made some major progress on WOOLY again - we're flipping!  The video link below is the very first flips - nothing has been adjusted on the table yet.  Really happy with the flow and layout for the first time.  Lots of work to do "tweaking" some areas, cleaning up the plastics, delaying some of the coil responses (VUK for instance) as well as wiring in the rest of the coils (kickback, drain, bumper, etc.) and switches and lights.  Watch out for my giant head - seems to get in the way a bit as well, but you get the idea - in any case we're frickin flippin!
