I guess this is where opinions diverge. I'm really not trying to be holier than thou right here, but when somebody claims he needs to see interest before releasing his work, it really turns me off of the work itself. But that could just be me, working away at pinball music, a hobby I suppose roughly 100 people take interest in as well - 2% of what he wants for his release. As a result, I can't think of him as anything else as an attention seeking... *insert random expletive here*. When you set some arbitrary goal for people to pine for before releasing work - ESPECIALLY of the non-commercial variety, you're not in it for the work itself, and that really doesn't sit too well with me. As a matter of fact, it makes me go one step closer to despising you.

I will laugh myself to death if I join the club of Slamt1lt's douches with my opinion. Not literally, but still. I won't seek him out to tell him what I think of him, though. Picking fights isn't my style.

The McD

P.S. Isn't it completely counterproductive to want a higher number? All it's going to cause is spamming of the video, causing it to be viewed by people who have absolutely no interest in the thing, which may rack up the views, but will skew the statistics.

VPF's resident pinball music fanatic.

QUOTE (moogster66 @ Jun 7 2011, 08:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Noah, I was never expecting his tables to be posted here. Only on his youtube page. How many real pinball tables do you have in your house? 3? 4? I admire anyone who does because I can't have any, I don't have the space or the funds. VP and FP is all I've got. I wish I could go down to my basement and play the real IM table, but I can't. My concern. Just like it's my concern that I'm "pining" for the IM table. I am not sitting here biting my finger nails, waiting for it. I just want the opportunity to play it, is that wrong? That's why we're here right? To play virtual pinball. Hell, maybe the table sucks, how can I know? What has been proven is that if staff from VPF goes over to youtube and posts negative stuff, he runs. Is that wrong? for him to run when that happens? I already stated yes it's wrong. I don't like it, but still I wait. We have all waited for releases.

Again, if someone like JP or UW said they were making a VP version of IM, I would be "pining" for that one too. Just like you are a wrestling fan, I am an IM fan. That's why I wait.

I realize that where Slam goes, trouble seems to follow. I am figuring this out pretty well now. I am not trying to lose friends I have made here, you guys ROCK! This forum is great, with great people. I wouldn't have paid for a lifetime membership here if I didn't like it. I would never send the kind of PMs and stuff that Slam must have sent you. But I would still like the chance to play the table.

I currently one have one pin, WWF Royal Rumble.

Moog, of course we're all here to play virtual pinball in one form or another, but we're here collectively to share in that. Whether it be tables, ROMs, images, redraws, sounds, scripts, knowledge, or whatever, we share. We don't hold our work hostage until certain criteria are met. That's what I hold important above all else. (God, that sounds a bit corny, I bet, but it's how it is for me).

Someone disrespecting so many times those that gave a lot to us doesn't deserve the time of day, IMO, and that's where my thinking is here. It's like a fiddle made of gold.

And you're never going to lose friends over him.

I can only forgive you if you go to my youtube page, and watch my video 1000 times.....

Unless, of course, someone says something I don't like in the meantime, and then... well, forget about it....ohmy.gif

If he were to contact me, talk to me like a rational person, and be willing to abide by our board rules, then I would have no problem with it. Will it happen under the current circumstances ... no.
[/quote]

I think there is a better chance of the moon falling to the earth than him getting honest.
Those who have worked so hard at being dishonest eventually develop into a sociopath and wreck havoc any and everywhere they go, nowhere being excluded, VP/FP included as we all see. This is his chief goal in life, to create situations whereby he can foster an incident, and if he is a really seasoned psychopathic personality he can produce this in multi situations, and then he is having a feast, as it were. This type really get their jollies by keeping folks in an uproar. Low level psychopathic personalities are everywhere and thank God the vast majority of them never develop into the nastier sort we have all seen movies on. Slam is really enjoying the fruits of his labor, and I don't refer to his ability to create nice pinball tables. Some sociopaths are more gifted than the run of the mill sort, but the only thing they all share in abundance among themselves is the ability to craft situations and cause chaos, and this is what feeds their ego, and they love the attention it spawns for them, and one thing you will not find in a sociopath is humility, every last one of them have a superiority complex the size of the Rock Of Gibraltar. It is good for the world that Slam is a small time operator, and I am impressed with you Noah that on principle you simply refuse to play any of his tables. I am challenged to give serious consideration to doing the same thing. BT

There is a classic book called "Animal Farm", written by George Orwell and published in 1945.
While the book is quite old, it's message is still relevant today. The book takes a parallel with communism, but can equally be applied to many structures in the present day.

The story is about an uprising of exploited animals against the farmer. Eventually the animals overthrow the farmers, and take dominion of the farm house. At first it requires all the animals to be in unison with each other, and the common vision is that all the animals are equal to each other.
Over time the pigs start awarding themselves a little more of the spoils than the other animals. If there was an outcry by an individual animal, he was ridiculed and frozen-out by the others. Interestingly the other animals who are joining in with the mocking, are also been exploited but fail to see their status.

Anyway the story goes on, you'll have to read the book.

The pigs eventually take complete dominion, and the other animals finish up been in service to them, just like they were to the original farmers. Essentially the masters had changed, but not the situation of been exploited.

In order to quell a further uprising, one of the classic lines that the pigs give the other animals was, "We are all equal, but some are just a bit more equal than others."
The democracy quickly became a monocracy.

The story can do the talking.

He's won? Due to his past antics, I hardly know who he is. Meanwhile if he had done tables properly & through the proper channels, & could of been a humble dude just wanting to share tables & not cause trouble, then he might have nearly the popularity of JP.
Instead, this guy & his work are always on the fringes. You need to scour the internet to find anything. Most members here have no clue who he is, or those that do just know him as a troublemaker. Lost in all that is that he does some solid work in FP. Too bad so many people won't get to enjoy it. Even if he does start releasing his stuff, he isn't gonna be reaching the masses via youtube, but he's gonna have to try cuz nobody else will host his shit.

Exactly!

People like Slam live on shit like this... we are talking about him, that make him (in his mind) relevant, which he isn't...
