With the default table settings, the ball doesn't even get on the playfield. Seems like too much gravity. Both tables play fine on 10.7

Sounds like the physics issue that was discussed over the last couple pages and was resolved in the beta.  You probably need to update your beta revision and delete pov/ini for those games.  If you want to read more about it flip back a couple pages in this thread, or you can look at trouble ticket (closed) #1158 on github.

Hi guys, I play on cabinet in Windows mode
Why with the new vpx update are all the tables resized and do not remain as I had set them via the F6 option?
Is there a way to avoid this?

can anyone help?

I'm seeing 2 problems with beta7, wondering if anyone knows: bug or is there a fix? ...

1. some tables the lights are WAY too bright. // two examples...Goonies & Pirate of the Caribbean

2. a few tables play at exactly 1.6fps (yes, you read that right) while all my other tables play at 144fps. // two examples... Mortal Kombat II & Bigus's Star Trek LE (VPWs version works fine)

I've seen these issues as well. The 1.6 fps on certain tables is connected to Frame Pacing (I see that on Volkan for one example). From some github discussion it may be related to tables that use flashers https://github.com/v...ball/issues/755.

What Pirate of the Caribbean tables are too bright. i have 2 builds, both OK, and one from Pirates of the Caribbean MOD M.Roche.vpx which has bright green lights near the flippers which i would consider normal for this type of table

Just a quick question, if I may.

With the POV changes and .ini file addition, will VPX8 import your existing POV on launch and then allow you to save it as the newer .ini file format?  I'm currently running an older VPX8 build from GitHub and wondering if I'll have to redo all of my POV settings from scratch.

Thanks!

I'm not upgrading if this is going to change all my tables. I worked hard going through my 1500+ tables to get them the way I wanted them.

Its way too bright, I played both (two of my fav tables) for months on 10.7.x and know what they should look like.

I don't have that table, but what do the settings for those lights look like in the editor?  If it's just a couple lights on a couple tables, chances are you can easily just adjust them.

I'm REALLY hoping that there will be some way to convert the existing .POV files to .INI, so I don't have to redo everything when 10.8 comes out  :shok:
If not, that would suck in a major way.

There seems to be a lot of confusion with this (cabinet users). In a nutshell, if you had previously saved a table in 10.7 or earlier you can safely launch it in 10.8 beta 7 and it will automatically show the exact same POV as before (that's now considered a "Legacy" POV). Better yet, if you choose to experiment with the new POV system in 10.8 beta 7, you could launch the previously saved legacy table, hit F12 followed by the Launch button and adjust POV setting using the new and far superior "Window" mode, then simply hit the Start button to save the new settings in a separate .ini file without altering the table file at all. In fact don't hit 'save' in the editor at all. Doing it this way, if you launch the table again with 10.7 it will automatically show in the legacy POV mode, and if you launch it in 10.8 beta 7 it will automatically search out the .ini file and display the table using the new Window POV mode. Best of both worlds, without affecting the original VPX file.

p.s. Don't forget to enter your CORRECT playfield monitor dimensions in 10.8 beta 7 global video settings BEFORE messing with the new POV modes. This is a must for the Window POV mode to display correctly for 'your' cabinet. If you set any POV's without this in place and later enter the dimensions in video settings it will jack all of your new POV files. As they say, measure twice cut once.

I tried the built-in ruler and had issues with it. I just took my glass off and used a real tape measure.

Vincent implemented one of my feature requests :)  You can now view table rules, if the author added them, via the Adjustment mode in-game.  It still needs some tweaks, but we're getting there.

Hello guys,

Is there anyone facing FPS drop afer 10.8.6 or 10.8.7 update? Some tables I never had problem started to drop FPS to 20/25 in some parts of the gameplay. One good example is Back To The Future.

Until 10.8.5, FPS performance was good.

My PC have a RTX 4060 +  32 GB RAM + Ryzen 2200g (This is the bottleneck) with 3 diplays (32' 4K/ 24' 1080p/ 12.6' DMD 1920x515).

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

It should just use the resolution... measurements do not matter.

That is fine, but what happens when I already am using the new 'Window' POV settings in 10.8 Beta 5 and have a ton of individual POV files for various tables? Some of them are using 'Legacy' settings, but a lot of them are already converted to the newer 'Window' mode.

Since .POV is considered deprecated now, will the newer than beta 5 releases still be able to use those or will I have to redo all the changes manually and save them as .INI? Or will there be a way to mass-generate .INI files based on the old .POV ones?

Your .pov files should function normally if you open the table and then you can save it as a .ini

OK, while that is still quite a bit of manual work, it is better than having to redo all settings again.
Thanks.
I wish there was some sort of utility that goes through the existing POVs and generates the INI files though, without having to manually do it for all of them.
