Love the collaborative spirit between VPE and VPX.

Yes we're talking a lot and coming along great (at least that's my impression, hehe).

Hmmm.. So we have freezys video that looks sane, and the authors that say it (can) looks weird.. So where is the disconnect?

Can you guys please try to come up with repro tables so that we can see the new effect, how that looks out of place?

Would it help to simply speed up the anim by 2x or 3x?

it may help to speed up the animation
it may also help to limit the backwards travel to a smaller amount of movement

you could look at https://www.vpforums...&showfile=15165

there are 4 gates at the top of the table
2 VPX gate models and 2 Prims, so you can easily bash the ball manually into them to observe how they act kind of all in one place

Maybe someone could make a quick gate demo table that would work better, i can not right now, work would interrupt too much

rev4406 is up:

Would it be possible for viewing converted units for co-ordinates in the status bar (bottom)?

Why don't you use the spinner physics for the gates? The spinners are working correctly.

Yup, the plan itself is good, but as usual, the devil is in the details.

I'll play around some more with speeds, but you guys need to be more specific with videos when something's "off".

Here it i s a test table. It is the same table I used before in the thread, the only thing I have done is to rotate the gate so it stops the ball. Just shoot the ball with the plunger.

To me the gate moves way too much back, like it is broken.

Fair point - question is which of our artificial examples are more common in nature - I suspect @jpsalas'.

Getting a real-life clip of such a collision would certainly help as well.

I do not have any example of a real gate, but I never thought that the old behavior was wrong. It wasn't perfect, as it was a digital representation. But the new animation feels that the gate is broken, as it moves way too much back.

This test table is the same as the one before in which we tested the manual opening and closing of the gate, and this animation is now broken again. So in this test2 table you may press the left SHIFT to open & close the gate. But if the ball hits the gate once, then it won't work anymore.

Because... they are gates, not spinners? ;)

Why? Spinners are the same like gates only not limited in their movement.

From a physics stand point, they are entirely different

A spinner is a balanced rotational mass

A gate is an unbalanced swinging mass

the physics are not the same

@Toxie
Not to derail the gates topic, but how hard would it be to get the option to export the Audio "POV"

The volume/panning/speaker assignment of a table from the sound manager

before i forget to ask

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

In what kind of way??

Table A

open sound manager
set chosen sounds to back glass
set some sounds to 60% volume
set some sounds to a hard pan
save table
PROFIT

Now table A gets an update with 4k graphics
PROFIT lost

Export the settings from sound manager
get 4k table
import settings back to sound manager, so a user does not have to readjust all the sounds over again
PROFIT

That was kinda weird yet interesting to read over

And he is using 10.6? and pretty sure it sounds like he is using 7.1 settings in VPX?

Though he has software loaded that pertains to audio that i do not have, nor will load, because it is too hard
to take it back out, plus it will only hurt rather than help here.

Do not  know if that factors into anything at all or not

But yea i found it interesting that he had table sounds crawling up into the backbox speakers like that.

in 7.1 settings the backbox should be totally off the table (no pun intended) as a source for table audio to play from

should be a non entity
