are you sure the vpinball914.exe and vpinball915.exe are in the same directoryas the vpinball912.exe ?

I don't actually have 914; just 902 (installed by Installer 103), 912 (since May 29, 2011) and 915, which I've had for only about two weeks. I just thought that 'Alternate' meant 914 or higher, or I wouldn't have DL'ed 915. All EXEs are in the Visual Pinball folder, with desktop shortcuts. Should I again try changing the alternate to VPinball915?
In the Instructions, you give the options VP9, VP8, and FS; apparently, selection of the alternate exe is automatic, but I started on the wrong foot by thinking that I had to specify it myself. Then the Error screen mentioned the VP9 executable being undetected but not the alternate.
Arrrgh! Two hours of sleep is catching up, and I can't think of anything else pertinent, so I gotta bail.

It's early but who cares :drinks:

Agreed!
Gregg
If you have 915 , you can use that one in the vp9alt.
Vp9alt must direct to an existing vpinball executable, this way the program knows which executable to use for the tables that have ALT in the games.xml.
In other words...
If there is ALT in the games.xml for that table it will use the other (read vp9alt) executable.

Hope this explains it a bit

Play=vp9 is good , it covers both the vp9 and vp9alt executable
The error message will be the same for the alternate exe as for the normal one

Hope you get it working...

First, the good news.....it works! :yahoo:  I guess that before, when I had 915 in the alt path, I must have had play=VP9alt or VP9ALT, because it did everything right this time, including submitting the score.

Now the bad news..... at the slightest hint of multiball, stutter and lag became co-rulers of the universe, Ball 1 drained and froze about halfway up the left outlane and never DID shake loose, and the score that I submitted was less than 6.5 Billion---my rig just can't keep up with much of anything. I'll go through Video Options again in case there's a tweak yet to be supplicated, but of course we know I never miss anything (*hic*) because my code is powerful and.....oh, wait; that's kung fu.....never mind.

Thanks again, Dna. And, by all means..... :drinks:

Hey Dna Disturber,

what about taking this thing to the physical world - I mean create a circuit which can read the ram from a real solid state pinball machine and post it online? Do you think it's difficult? Thinking about "something" which sits between the CPU and the RAM Chip like a proxy.

cheers,

WD

I don't think it will be something easy, you also have to have an internet connection to send it in your real pinball machine.
For sure i wouldn't have the skills to create something like that and i don't think it will be used by a lot of people.

Also the settings can differ for the game, as you can adjust the settings in the operator menu.
So a fair competition will still be difficult to obtain...

Are there more tables coming to Pinemhi ?

There are "only" 86 pinballs available, but I've got more then 350 VP tables in my HyperPin collection.

And Future Piball is that an option ?

Eventually yes...
But i haven't got the time to work on it at the moment.

Best solution is to bring down the number of tables on your cab to 86.. ;)
Future pinball is not an option at the moment i'm afraid

Hey DNA, I made a list of tables which need to be upgraded for Pinemhi.

Also included 25 new tables which you can add.

In the list you see the old table names and the new table names for the upgrades so it's easier for you to add.

For the new tables only the latest table name.

Maybe later you can add some new challenges and badges...

Hi BlackPredator72,

The replacements i could do but i would also have to have the desktop names.
That wouldn't take up too much time.

With new tables i have to do more work so that takes time....
But as not many seem to use pinemhi leaderboard it 's something i have to think about.
It costs me lots of free time and there aren't that many that play.

Maybe there is a new development which brings more people in and makes it easier for me to add new games
If that were to happen then i could be adding and replacing games on a regular basis and have a lot of games supported.

I hope i can bring some good news real soon

I hope so....hopefully more people are playing Pinemhi in the future....it's real fun to have a big competition with hundreds of players instead of only 25.

It's not that hard to install it and have it in your HyperPin wheel as a "table". Just put a WiFi stick in your cab and go !

Try to beat CED, XIO, Mac420 and me guys !!!

I'll just get this out of the way now; :bar3: :band:  :bar4:

With the recent phenomenal progress toward VP9 + DX9, lame comps like mine can enjoy higher framerates and fewer bottlenecks, so.....what are the chances that VP9_DX9_testx can work as an Alternate EXE?

....it's real fun to have a big competition with hundreds of players instead of only 25.

With over forty names known to be active, most tables still have only about thirteen players; it'll really be nice to see that swell a bit, and make DnaD forget what it's like to have free time.....

Cheers!

GSG

Hi gregg,my virtual drinkingbuddy :drinks:

You should have no problem using the d9 executables.
Can't give a 100percent guarantee though...
Most important is the vpinmame because of the scores and that doesn't change.

And yeah free time is overrated :)
Give me less....

I've built a plugin for PinballX....
With this plugin you can sent your hiscores as usual but from PinballX :)

First tests are looking good....
Just need to clean up the code a bit and put in some messages...
Write instructions....

As Tom Speirs added an extra output to the plugin system for this plugin to work , this will only work with PinballX versions above 1.75
Tom hasn't released a newer version but i also need to work on it for a bit so stay tuned.

Will probably soon ask for a volunteer to try it out... Preferably someone who already used pinemhi leaderboard

This is very intresting as the PinballX already has online connectivity as far as knowing the last time and table you played (nice signature card available) so it looks like a lot of the backend stuff is there. Did you ever get table names sorted out?

Give us a shout sometime, I could probably do a bit for ya.

Thinking a bit further ahead, a nice thought would be to implement something along with unit3d pinball, but with a special .upt table build along with settings that cannot be changed , so in theory everyone uses the same table.

With this maybe they can remove all the settings from a table but leaving just the graphics , cam & input settings. Could probably even run a check to see if the table script is altered.

Hi Les73gTx,

I haven't used any of the backend from pinballx.
This is just a way to use pinballx instead of my own frontend for pinemhi leaderboard to send hiscores to www.pinemhi.com/hiscores.php

I'm not sure what you mean by the tablenames sorted out.
Perhaps the check on the database to see if you are playing the right table?
I do that to make sure people play the same table.

I haven't tried unit3d pinball but as it makes use of vpinmame it would probably be possible to also get hiscores from that.
Gettting a cheatproof system is nearly impossible to create plus it takes a lot of time to get these sort of things done.
So unfortunately honor system it is i' m afraid :)
But if a table has been built without the option to alter anything and then compiled to a .upt then it of course would be better armed against cheating...
