Just noticed that github action 2181 is "fixed longstanding textbox font size bug".  Haven't tested yet but sounds like a fix for what has been an annoyance for a lot of people.

Looks like we have some new lighting settings. Can I please get an explanation how these work:

that is the environment image, same as before

and now you can adjust how strong an effect the image has

ever try picking an image and just cant get it quite right?

one has too much effect, another too little effect?

now you can adjust it, makes life easier.

Scene lighting scale, i am not entirely sure though.

time to experiment by making drastic changes to it to see the results?

Okay question about POV.

I have a POV I really like for ACDC, and I want to use those same settings for other tables. If I try to export that POV from ACDC, its saving it as an .ini file. I would thinbk it should be exported as a POV file so that the file can be imported into other tables. The POV file should be table non-specific which is what it used to be. I am sure I am just doing something wrong.

So how do I save the POV from a table, and apply it to another table?

Copy it and rename it autopov.pov.

To make sure I'm giving you all the info you need... to save the pov you export it through the file menu.  Renaming it to autopov.pov will apply it to all tables that don't already have one.  If you want to apply it to just one other table, rename it to that table.

Hi,

Aren't .pov files deprecated in the latest builds in favour of .ini files? Now when you press start after having edited your pov, it says it has saved it in <table filename>.ini file.

However, this does not seem to be working, I've opened issue #1025 for this.

So I'm also looking how to create a default "Window" pov file for all tables with latest 16xx builds.

Yes I am seeing this here too.

The POV export under "file" appears to be creating an .ini file rather than a POV file. Maybe thats the bug. If it was creating a .pov file, then things would be like before and that would work fine. But, it appears that we are moving toward having a .ini file for each table.

So if we are ditching POV in favor of the .ini file, then how can you take a generic .ini file and import it into a table to set the "view" settings. Maybe this is still under construction, or maybe I am just badly missing something here.

Yes, but for this, the export of the pov data in the .ini file has to work :-) We'll see how it goes with issue 1025.

Yeah, the ini files changes just happened in the last week or so.  There was some brief discussion about it here.  It appears to be a work in progress.  If you have specific information about it you can contribute in github tickets it will probably help them work it out.  I am waiting to see where they are going with it, exactly, as I don't completely understand how it is going to work.

PinSound doesn't work with this version. If I try, the whole program freezes up. Can anyone suggest a fix?

Might be because you've switched to a 64 bit version. There's a fix in the latest vpinmame V3.6 beta's for x64 to work with PinSound which you can grab on github, or try the 32 bit version of VPX 10.8

It didn't help. The program still freezes when I try using PinSound. I have to fall back to my earlier version of 10.7 to use it.

anyone having an issue starting either pinball magic hybrid v 1.9  or the vpw guns and roses table in any vpx8 version past 1689.

all other tables i've tried still load and work but these 2 tables crash for me when starting the table from the editor.  crashes but leaves no crashdump

The only thing i know for sure that both these tables have that most tables do not is they both have some renderprobes set up as refraction probes
